Juvi Blueline Angelfish

Let me ask you gents this....

My current Blueline in QT has almost lost his yellow Juv stripe. What size Blueline should I get if I want to try and make a pair?

Also would I be better trying to make the pair in my 30 gallon QT or would I be better finishing the QT with this guy putting him/her in the main tank then getting another blueline...???

THanks

I think based on that fact that his yellow stripe is just about gone, I might try a very small juvi (like the one's on LA). I think that should give you a good size differential, plus coloration differences.

This guy is small 2"-3" at the most....Still feel the same?

How about the QT thing? SHould I finish treating the one I have with copper and get the copper out then introduce a second one then start the copper again? Or finish the QT on the one I have get him in the main tank then look for another???

Anybody has any problems with there blueline nipping sps? I've mine for 5 weeks now, never saw it eating any prepared food. Nip on rocks and sps only. Just caught her out. She was about 3''

3" will take some time but they like live worms and livebrine. From the live food it will take some time to frozen food and dry food. Expect nipping for a while so you will have to flood you tank with food. I start it with pellets, live food, and frozen food in that order every time I feed now until they get from fat little darlings to big bull dog.

I tried 1.5" with 2-2.5" and the larger stressed the little out to a point that I had to separate them in qt. In a display tank would work much better if you are inclined to try.

2-3" is a big range at this size...the juv coloration is almost completely gone on my 2.25" and she bugs the 1 7/8" a lot where the 2.75" will not bother the smallest one. I noticed the closer the size the more chasing between the two.

If it was me I would get a small juv acclimated then put in DT for 2-3 weeks before introducing the bigger one. Since you already started copper then might as well finish it with this one. All 3 of mine went straight in from the bag to the tank without any problem so I'm very lucky.

When you say bigger one. You are talking about the one I have in QT right? I will never put another fish in my tank unless I have put it thru QT....SO you would not add a juv to my 30 gallon QT with the one I have already in there?

Yes, I meant the bigger one that's already in the Q tank. The problem in the 30g is that there may be too much chasing and leading to the smaller one not eating. This is a whole lot of what if, I can only tell you that I was comfortable with my personal experiences with not QT any of the 3 and they went straight in, can I tell you to do that? NO. I've a whole bunch of fishes in there and that probably diverted some of the aggression and I also have about 150lb+ of rocks for food and shelterh. Do what you're comfortable with is the most important thing.

So, here's my new guy to pair with my current juvi. Just got him this morning. He's quite a bit bigger than the juvi, and already seems to be sizing up the other through the egg crate. Hope I'm not headed for disaster. I'll keep them separate for a while, and then see what happens by removing the egg crate for a short time, and steadily increasing the time they're together (unless it isn't going well at all).

They eat pretty much all the various brand/type of frozen food I put in there and on the dry side they eat BZ Marine Mix (flake & pellet) and NLS pellets.

Hmmm, ok. I was going to try and get them to get along in the QT before moving them to my DT. Bad idea you think? I figure I'll at least give it a shot, couldn't hurt.

It's a bare tank and easy enough to put the divider back in if it doesn't work out. I figure if the little one goes into the DT first then she should be fine. I normally prefer the intro in the big tank where they've rocks to run into for safety.

Ok. Thanks! Let's hope they get along half as well as my new Picasso Perc pair! They're so cute. Never more than 2" apart, they seem to get nervous if they don't see each other at all times! :)

I don't know if they will stay that close to each other but if they do it will be a few years from now. My 6"+ BL is still chasing the 4.5" BL around even after being together for 10 months now. There may be hope though, the 6"+ Meredithi stopped chasing the smaller one (4.25-4.5") around about 5-6 months ago and they been together for almost 2 years now.

I recently got 2 and they are both in my FOWLR for now. They are only eating frozen brine and mysis for now. Just thought I could share a couple of pics I have of them, sorry the photos aren't the best quality I will try to put up some better ones soon.
