Juvi Blueline Angelfish

So far so good.....Got a small Blueline in QT right now!!!!!

That's great, post some pics of your pair.

Noticed a little chasing here and there tonight once the lights dimmed, I think he was establishing some dominance since he picked his spot for the night.

I also wonder why the sudden surge in availability. While they have been in the hobby before, they've never been available in these kind of numbers. Would they stop collecting them already!!!! If everyone has one, then I'm not special anymore, haha. :)

I just had this discussion with a friend the other day. When I got my pair two years ago you had to jump through hoops to find them. I literally had to wait almost a year to acquire the small Bluelines I had. They were not a common fish that show up on wholesalers stock lists, despite them not being a ultra rare/ extremely hard to locate and collect type of fish. Now you can't go to an online vendor, or even some of the LFS in my area, without seeing juvi Bluelines for sale. Who opened the floodgates? :fun5:

Now you've gotta have a sweet pair to be special and unique :)

I think Kevin's(flameangel88) harem of Bluelines have most beat for special and unique. I have never seen more than a couple kept at one time. What is Kevin up to around 5 now? He should just have a dedicated Blueline system....now that would be awesome.

Last year when I started stocking my tanks, I looked for a pair and none was to be found. The only place that I remember seeing one was at Diver's Den and that was very sparingly. Now days they are as common as the Emperator Angels.

Yes, the pair (6" & 4.5") in the 180g and the juv trio in the 120g. Both been together for 10 months now but the larger one is still chasing the smaller one. Hopefully they will turn out like the Meredithi pair and settle down. The trio was doing good till I added a Multi-color last night and the large one (2.75") was chasing the 2.25" this morning during feeding time. Not sure what happened but definitely no more than 3 in a tank.

Out of curiosity, how many tanks are you running? And what kind of fish in each tank? I've seen your beautiful Flame Angel tank here in the forum somewhere....

Running 6 tanks...was going to upgrade and consolidate but that will have to wait till next year. But looking for a 125-180 reef setup to sort out some of the pairs in the 180.

Scribbled angel, Xhatch, Blue Throat trig pair

Frondosa, lg Maroon clown

juv BL trio, 2 female Rhomboids, male Pink Margin

here's the 180g with the BL pair that I need to sort some the pairs out as they're getting bigger and crowded

I know. I'd corals in there 3 years ago till the paie of Semilarvartu and wiped it out in less than 10 days. So I' looki
ng for a 125i-180 established reef setup to house some of the pairs. I've a spare 125 but much cheaper to buy a setup someone breaking down plus I don't have to deal with the cycle. that's how I got the 12o juv BL started.

That's some beautiful fish you got there. How do you get all those Angels to play nice to each other?

Thanks. It wasn't easy in the beginning but I'm sure the 260lbs of live rock in the 180 help out a bit. Wrong intro the established fish would go nuts so had to add multiple fish at the same time to divert some of the aggression. The last juv Goldflake and small Venustus were not attacked when added. I usually put new additions in a container for 3-5 days to acclimate before being release and this is important to ensure no aggression while they were in the container. There's enough going on in the tank to keep them busy and I feed enough to keep them full. The price is a lot of WC and to over skim.

Brian,

Did you get the new juv over the weekend? How are all the juvies doing? Any behavior change since the beginning or pretty much the same?

Kevin

I was having the same conservation this weekend and wondering the same. Either way I'm still excited to have one of these little guy's, as you never know if you'll have the chance again.
