Juvi Blueline Angelfish

Thanks for the video and the link Kevin

yours eating pallets...which pallets, is it NLS?

My large angles only eat like flakes and pe mysis....how did you get them to eat pallets?

some ppl said like you don't feed them PE or flakes for like 2 days and let them starve and then they will eat pallets?

so of the 3, flase/true personifier and blue lines which ones you like in order?

thx
Prasanna

You're welcome.

I feed with Ocean Nutrition (ON) Prime Reef flakes and NLS, ON Formula 2 and Instant Ocean Marine pellets mix.

I feed enough variety of frozen and dry that I don't think about what they eat and what they don't eat anymore. I feed dry food in the morning and frozen when I come home at night and med portion of dry before going to bed. The time to figure what they like to eat or what you want to train them to eat is during QT. If you see them not eating one type or another is fine as long as you mix in some with what they will eat and eventually they will learn to eat everything. It took my semilarvatus 3.5 years to learn to eat pellets. Key is to vary the diet and hopefully along the way they learn to eat everything.

As for personal preference: you've the order right
false (because of the mask on the male--hopefully mine will have that beautiful mask soon), true (2nd due to lighter color as mine are not as dark as the false) and blueline.

oh nice ... yea on ur video both false/true looks similar bc they are juvi

but I rem seeing a video on utube and it seems like the true one has more of grey face than bluish and I think it lacks the yellow on its front face ...

oh cool same here ...I feed ON reef flakes, NLS, and PE mysid

personifer and scribble eats from my hand, I fed NLS it takes it and spit it, butI think I can get it to eat soon, b/c I just got them last sat, and I already trained it to eat flakes

btw I ddin't QT them, and the store had them for like 6 weeks before I picked it up

but my personifier has small ich ...but when I on the light, there is no ich, after like 4 hours ich comes,

does ich show up only when the lights are on???

every day I feed PE Mysid with one full drop of selcon (when I mean full, I press it and all the liq goes into the dropper and I pour all) and 3 drops of Kent Garlic

I don't want to take it out and treat it, I think if I feed it good food it will go away

also I am getting my UV next week ...

thanks

Sometimes when the tank is dark it's difficult to see ich so that may be the reason you're not seeing it till the light comes on.

Adding selcon and garlic is good but that will not get rid of ich.

I can understand why people don't want to break down their tank to treat and this is true especially with a reef tank but the the problem is ich will not go away on its own. The existing fish may tolerate the ich in the system but any stress will trigger a outbreak. The bigger problem is when you add new fish and the weaker addition will most likely not survive with aggression from existing fish. If you intend to add more fish I highly recommend you find a way to treat once and for all.

Running UV will keep the parasite in check but will not totally eliminate them because the parasites must pass through the uv light (this is my understanding and hope others will chime in). The ich that's on the fish and sandbed will continue its cycle.

Very true Kevin

I had an achilies for 10 monThs and it had ich on the first day and I just fed selcon and garlic and that fsh Was good for one 10 months

Ok I have mo issue treating the reef tank... Can u pls recommend me a good reef tank ich treatment

Pran,

No easy way when it comes to ich in a reef because any meds that is effective is not reef safe. Definite read up on the sticky thread on Marine Ich.

I would take all the fishes out and hypo for 8 weeks. Perform massive water changes in the reef and keep it fishless while you are doing the 8 weeks of hypo.

hi All blueline owners

how long would it take a 2 inch blue line to become bigger like Kevin's blue line angelfish

thx

I dont know. I've only had mine for 3 months now, and it isnt even 2 inches yet....
When I got it was 1.25 inches...

Nick

Approximately, yes.

However, mine is kept in a 58 gallon tank, (36Lx18Wx24H) right now...I have no idea what the growth rate would be in a 300 gallon Deep Dimension tank, (72Lx36Wx27H), or a larger tank....

This is the first Chaetodontoplus angel I've kept, and its one of the smallest angels I've ever kept. The other tiny angel I had was Pomacanthus maculosus. It started out at about 1.25 inches and exploded in growth in a year....Different angel species have different growth rates and mine might not be typical...

Nick

Not as of yet. But I rarely feed pellets to my fish.

It just started taking uncooked scallop and shrimp in addition to the Nori.

Nick

My juvies have grown to 5" since last August. I think one was 1.75" and the other just a little bigger than 2" when I got them.

One eats only meaty foods, the other mysis, flakes and pellets. I had the two together with my big one (see post #432) but had to remove one of the smaller guys when they started fighting.

It is a bluespot in my avatar.
