Kalk dosing concept?

lanshark

It's Landshark, aka SNL
Assumptions:

I will introduce a kalk dosing solution to my automated ato in near future.
I have small mj pump in ro reseviour going to sump intake.

Will be making own reactor with stir plate (all good).

I will automate stirring on some time table to keep kalk in solution and time ro reseviour pump feed reactor x minutes after stirring.

Now finally my question on physical function of reactor itself;

Is the idea to have output of kalk reactor high and input of ro water to reactor always low to push saturated kalk into sump?

I'm not sure I understand the question. What do you mean by high and low?

There's really no need for a reactor or stirrer for kalk. Just give the water a good stir manually when you add water or kalk to it and then let it settle. Once it settles out, the clear saturated solution will stay saturated. It shouldn't need any more stirring until you either add more water or more kalk to it.

He's presumably making a small DIY limewater reactor. :)

You want to dissolve as much lime as possible (or as much as you need, if you need less than saturation) without dosing solids. That can be tricky, and is one reason I prefer dosing from a settled reservoir than a reactor. :)

Yes, I was thinking making the equivalent of a tlf 300 reactor without the water pressure driven stirring. I think the idea with this type setup is to have an inch or two of kalk powder settled at bottom. No circulation pump on reactor, just pass thru.

Example,

Like a tequila sunrise drink has layers of liquid that stay seperated until stirred, how do I force out super saturated lime from reactor as new ro/di enter and displaces that which is leaving reactor for sump? Or, is that just the way it is? Or, do I tweak the ato/reactor to replenish sump more often so that say top off is achieved by depleting the reactor of say .25 percent it's volume...

My goal is to force all that saturated lime water to sump without diluting with inbound ro/di to reactor? Or, refilling the tequila sunrise from bottom ;).

I'm thinking FIFO regarding reactor. Maybe it's not possible.

I just didn't want to add kalk to my ato reservoir to avoid buildup and more frequent cleaning.

You need to get the lime to dissolve. Depending on how much it is stirred and such, having the water come up from the bottom is a fine idea if you can keep the solids from getting to the top.
