KaMi 's SpS StarFire Aquarium

Well ok so everythings set up but theres just one problem....I have microbubbles in the main tank and it is driving me nuts. It not alot or anything...very minimal....but it bothers me so much because iam a perfectionist. Ive tried everything...sponges...filter media...adjusting flow..and nothings working so i gotta do what I gotta do. Ive removed the entire sump area and Ill be re doing the sump which will be my project this weekend. I want ZERO bubbles in my tank.

Oh yea someone did suggest using socks...but Iam trying to stay away from that...or should I?

Why would you not at least try it and see if it works?

Maybe the bubbles are from your skimmer or something else anyway and a sock won't make any difference.

Well no its def not from my skimmer...it hardly lets out any bubbles...its comming from the overflow line when water comes crashing down into the sump.
If my sump redo doesnt work then yes Iam gonna have to use a sock as a last resort option

I had the same trouble bubbles making it to the pump which chopped them up and sent them into the dt. Had to section off the return area from the pump and add a pile of rock below the outlet to try to trap the bubbles. A sock would work but a pain to change steady.

random question, what is that pad type light you are using for your refugium? i did not recognize it.

Its the skkylight from innovative marine...I highly recommend it...its really nice and can bent to fit anywhere...6 leds 6500k and it looks really nice....could have went the cheap way...but if i wanted to go the cheap way I wouldnt have gotten all the top stuff to begin with :)

Sometimes it just takes a little time for things to settle in and they'll go away. You could also try making one of these...

With all of those baffles in your sump I'm surprised you're having a problem with microbubbles. You're positive there's no air leaks in your return line?

Thank you. I looked at it on marine depot, looks perfect. I currently use the JBJ nanoglo for my small refugium which is 4 leds at 6500K, 2 more bulbs would be perfect. thanks much for the information.

i'm still debating myself between the cadlights 70g and 100g.

Yea so I completed the sump last night and hooked it back up with my equipment....so things might have settled down by now..ill have to check once I get home today from work

yea i sectioned off the return area as well still getting bubble but barely...ill just experiment with some sponges and that should work iam thinking..if not then iam have to get mr socko out no choice....dont mind the work..i actually like maintaining a clean tank :)

Have you tried a Durso overflow? It worked well for my 40 breeder, went from driving me nuts noisy to silent and it was easy to make and install.

Could try putting a sock in there to see if it stops the bubbles. Worse case scenario if it works; replacing the sock drives you nuts.
I did put a sock in there today and it is alot better....I got everything just where I want it right now so iam just gonna leave it alone for the time being
