It may be a long time before i get this started maybe a year or 2 but....
I am now entering the Planning Stage of my 200g Starfire Reef Tank.
Heres what i am thinking of so far:

Tank - 72x26x24 - 200g (well, 194.5 but i rounded it)
Sump - 60x26x24 - 160g
Skimmer - Deltec AP851
Lighting - 3x250w MH
Calcium Reactor - Schuran Jetstream 1

Thats all i really have on my list at the minute, Any help would be appreciated.
I plan to add a closed loop on this system. Next year from MACNA i will get a dart pump. As they're probably cheaper over there.

Congrats Kane. I do have a few question :D

Is the sump going to be under the tank?

If the sump is going to be under the tank, Will your stand going to be larger to be able to fit the sump?

What return pump are you going to use?

Look like you are running a tight space if you don't have a fish room.

Thanks, I'm thinking of doing 60x24x24 on the sump to accomadate it a little better. Im not sure on return yet, probably an Ocean Runner. No fish room :( I didn't go with 30" wide because the room the tank is in is where my pool table is and adding those few inches could risk the cues hitting the tank.

Sounds like your headed for a awesome setup. I agree with jarhead, going to need a smaller sump or a larger stand...also I would think that a 24t sump may make it hard to do maintenance!

Kane, why not 60x20x20 or 18? The wood stand will take away 4" if you are using 2x4. The Ocean runner will add HEAT into your system. Why not Eheim 1262?

Really, they add heat? I may go with the Eheim then but im not sure what size everything is going to be yet. When I am finally ready to get the tank made i will have to talk to the manufacturer and see what they think for holes etc. For 60x16x16 i may have to go custom which I imagine is going to cost quite a bit more than what a tank straight off the shelf would cost.

Even though the tank being set up is along way away I am already thinking about fish :D I am thinking a Naso Tang, Maybe a PBT, School of Anthias and after that my mind's blank.

Thanks but its probably going to be between Sept - Dec next year until i even buy the tank, maybe the summer.

Shorten the cue stick instead , deeper is better than longer, I wish I add the place to make it deeper.......:p

If i had the tank positioned in a different place than i planned then i think it would fit fine. Those extra 6" would really help IMO.

I like to have length and depth but i would favour length over depth because of one reason and that is Tangs. I can go with 72x30x24 but that is a generous amount more than the 72x24x24. I like length for swimming space and depth and width for coral growth and rockwork.

Kar = looks like this will be a cool build. Im tagging alon...

OT - has "sketchup" become a verb in the vein of "tivo"...last I checked it was a Google program :) (very cool program, and easier than paint IMO, its a free download too).
