Kar's 200g Starfire Tank Thread - Planning Stage

Thanks guys! I have looked at Reeflo skimmers but i cant find them anywhere over here. I just downloaded Google SketchUp so ill try that. I've decided to go with 2 Vortechs on each side of the tank instead of the CL. Can the vortech battery backups be wired up to different pumps or lights?

Thanks Steve, I may get 10x80w T5 instead of the 3x250w MH and instead of the Calcium Reactor, I may use dosing pumps. Im also curios about the Zeovit systems. Ive seen them alot on other threads but never really known the benefits.

I ran Zeovit since 2005, i took it offline for couple months to try out other stuff and back to zeovit. If you need any help or info you can either A. ask me or B. to to Zeovit.com. It is very simple IMO and it work well for me.

As for the T-5, i think it is a good idea compare to the 250w. But dosing two parts, you need some serious consideration.

I think the dosing would be a bad idea. If i had a fish room then i might probably do it. In the long run its probably cheaper to get a reactor anyway, so that will be the best way forward IMO. I've always favoured T5 over MH because of coverage and colours. I wanted to try MH because it would be a first but T5 is definitely my favourite and i dont want to set up 3x250w with reflectors ballasts and everything in the canopy and then have to tear it out because i dont like it. I do like the looks of MH but T5 always has the best colours with the right bulb and colour choice.

What controller are you planning to acquire?

Have you looked into profilux? Being in the UK, It might be less expensive than over her in NA. Come and see the Sponsered Thread, you'll see and thread that compare AC versus Profilux.

ACJr will work well if you don't need to do anything advance. I may get the Pro cuz i will use approx 25-30 plugs.

Profilux never entered my mind, I just had a look and they are alot cheaper than what the AC are over here.

I dont think ill be using that many, but then your system is alot bigger. I'll see when i go to MACNA because im sure they'll have them all on show there, right? And i dont know where they are sold in the UK apart from online.

I can't speak for AC at all and would not because I don't know them at all.
But here is a few fact with profilux...
One of the best customer service and are also very proactive with their client...
Also a few key point with their unit is
Automatic water change (I do 2 gallong per day).
Cloud and thunderstorm simulation
Build in tunze control (no additional hardware other than special cable).

Really they do auto water changes? Another good think i can think of is that they are a UK based company so i may get faster customer service if anything were to go wrong.
