Kar's 55g Red Sea Reef Thread

What do you guys think off adding a Flame Fin Tomini and a Yellow (both small juvs) in this tank. I know people will say its a big no no but just curios as to what you thought?

Ok, Put the sump in the stand to test it fit and it did perfectly. I thought id end up moving the hinges forward but it was a absolute fit:D
But i removed that wood plank and now theres masking tape stuck in the middle baffle:mad2:

Ive ran into a slight problem. I rememebered a few months ago because this was a FOWLR i added a parasite treatment and i tested for copper today and im sad to say, its in there. All rock, sand and water will be discarded. So if i wiped this tank down with RO water on a cloth would there still be copper remains when it is filled up again?

Bleach? What would be the correct way to clean it after its been bleached? are you talkking fill the tank with bleach or bleach and water?

Thank's Aaron, Im thinking maybe ill try some SPS frags in middle and top and if they dont do good then i will fix a pendant on there. So i will have around 300w of light

try 3 gallon and rest water, soaked it for two days. most of the copper is on the clear silicone. after bleach then go ahead and give it a good rinse then test for copper again.

Bleach and water, I'm not sure about the amount, maybe a 8 oz per gallon or so. I'm also not sure if this will eliminate the copper from the tank. To remove the chlorine after you can add chlorine remover at 2 or 3 times the normal strength and drain and refill with RO/DI water. Any residual should dissipate after that.

You might want to post on the Chemistry forum to get an expert answer ;)

Ok, i posted on reef chemistry and Randy Holmes Farley said that copper hardly gets into silicone so it would be best to clean with straight vinegar and water. But i will sti,ll be testing for copper when im cycling.

Fish list is here;
I know this is probably pushing it a little bit but no tang police.
Flame Fin Tomini tang
Yellow Tang
Yellowhead Jawfish
2 Bangaii Cardinals
Orchid Dottyback
Some sort of goby

oh, i forgot to mentiion the tank is 18". If anybody could shed some light on my sps and light situation. Thanks

Get it Shed some light hehe:D

LOL Kar i think you can get away with either of those tangs but not both. I think the tank is just a little to small for both of the tangs. But either one would make a great addition.

i am not totally sure. you might be able to do it for a little but when they get to big for the tank you kind of have to move at least one of them out.
