Looks good. I like the look of the stand alot. How do you like the quality of the mr aqua tank? I have heard some people get them and the sides panels are over lapping a bit. Any issue for you like this?

The quality of the Mr. Aqua exceeds my expectations. The seems are completely perfect, but it's still very good building quality.

Thank you very much! I'm pleased with it, and it was short work with an orbital sander.

As a side note...

I'm itching to get home after this weekend! The waiting is harder than the work. Thanks for following! Way more to come...

kaser, do you think this stand would support a 20"x20"x18" tank, roughly 30gallons? I've followed davidchmaus's thread along with you and it is pretty much the inspiration for the tank I'm setting up.

No, I completely forgot, since I was in a little bit of a rush Friday. I drained the tank before I left, and used unions for the plumbing. Thanks for reminder! That'll be an easy fix. :thumbsup:

Yes, using the dimensions I've shown (21"x21"x30"t) you could easily have that size tank. Keep us posted when you start!

Also, I have a 26x26x18 and 2 6045's were too much flow. I sold both pumps and opted for the 6055 controllable. Im getting it on tuesday and ill let you know on its performance.

Thanks Martin. I bought the jig at Lowe's, but Home Depot also has them. They run $19.99 for the singles; you can also purchase a kit that comes with a multi-pocket jig. This'll allow you to drill both pockets without reseting the jig. The kit runs around $39.99, which is still a good deal. :thumbsup:

Thank you for the kind words. This is the first time I've actually tried to be this detailed; I'm glad people enjoy it. :thumbsup:

I'll have to find out the hard way with the 6045's; they were on sale for $59.99, and I couldn't pass that up. Yes, please let me know how you like the 6055! Also, in your avatar, it shows your light suspended on an arm. Did you do that yourself? I'm thinking of going that route. I'm tired of drilling holes in the ceiling, especially since I have to fill them back in before I move.

Sealing Time!

Tonight, I'm sealing the frame work with MINWAX Polycrylic (Clear Satin); it's a water based protective finish. I'll post a pic of the can once my camera recharges.

Things to come tomorrow:
1. System Setup
2. Live Rock addition (There'll be no sand!)
3. Water Tests

Hanging the Lights!

Here's a shot of a hanger I made using conduit and a pipe bender; I found this design in an article by Jessica Timko (Jessy).

Half circle hole to help insure a flat mounting on the frame:

The fixture hanging on the conduit (I used the crack tank to see what it would like with the tank in position):

Later tonight, I'll be doing the final plumbing to get the system up and running. :thumbsup:

With the hanger I had done the same thing over my 20L but didn't like that I couldn't get another 90 close enough to the first and had to crimp it like yours. What I did was put in a 90 degree angle that the conduit slipped into on both sides and on the side that goes over the tank drilled 2 hole in a cross shape to put bolts through so it didn't spin. I'll get a pic of it tomorrow if you'd like to show you what it looks like. personally I think it looks better than the crimp.

Well, as promised, here are a couple of pics with the system up and running. I'm going to let it go through the night with just RO, but tomorrow the salt will be added.

I too love the style of your aquariums. A few questions if I may...

-How does the ATI blend in being a tad longer than the tank? It looks great in pictures, I like the conduit too!

-How loud is the overflow? Looks like you used a durso?

very nice. Without some sort of hydraulic short throw bender there is no way to get the 90's that close together. ... I was angry to when I found this out after a few times bending it...lol...I'll post you a pic tomorrow tho. it's really easy all you need is a hacksaw, a drill and a 3 dollar part from lowes.
