Kasey's 60g

I look forward to seeing how you tackle the overflow into your sump. Are you going sock less? If so, how do you plan on controlling micro bubbles?

Yes, I'm going sockless. And, I have no idea how I'll tackles the micro bubbles. Still working on that. :D

Been there, done that...

But was not quite that lucky. :D

Most of time, I'm never that lucky. :p

Tank is looking awesome, love the dimensions. Can't wait to see it come to life.

Thanks! Life's hopefully coming soon!

These deep blue tanks are a great value for the money. I've been kicking around the idea of upgrading to one personally.

I'm looking forward to watching this come together.

Who plays the french horn??? Saw a case in the background of one of your pics.

Thanks! Yeah, I've been impressed with this tank so far. It's a great tank for the money.

My wife. :D I bought it for her a few years ago so she could play in the community band. She really enjoys it.

Looks good Kasey! Check out electrical conduit PVC for your return, they make it in lots of smooth 45 and 90 degree angles, it glues just like normal pvc and itll let you clean up your return placement without using flex pvc or a ton of elbows. I made mine using 3/4" pvc and it works a charm.

I like the idea of islands and a light in the middle surrounded by just water and sand, that is how the real reefs are! dig it.

Thanks for great idea with the PVC conduit! I'll have to check that our.

Yeah, I'm really hoping the look with the single light works out. That would be great. :)

Looks like you are off to a heck of a start! Looking forward to seeing what it looks like when up and running and full of livestock.

Not sure if you covered this already, but what kind of return pump are you using? How high is the top of the stand?

I'm using a Mag 9.5 for the return, and the stand is 40" tall. I don't have to bend down much. :)

Here are some pics. Keep in mind that the tank is in 'function mode'. Now that everything's moved over, I can focus on getting things tidied up. :)

Haha, I'll see what i can do tonight. The plan right now is to keep things on the far side to acclimate everything to the increase in light. I'm really enjoying the Radium.

Most things were polyping out after a half hour. We'll see what I've got when I get home. :p

+1 Need some close up sump shots! How are those bubbles? Looking good though...

I wonder what kind of cycle you will have? You keeping it BB?

Following this build. I just got a new 90g Miracles starphire rimless(36"X24"X24") and looking for inspiration. :)

I'll be sure to get some close ups of the sump within the next day or 2. Things aren't super tidy. :p The micro bubbles are few; there's a modification I'd like to make later today to help eliminate that.

Good luck.

Thanks, Mike. :)

Well I hope things turn out well so that maybe I can share good ideas and not bad. :p

Alright, so today I've been working on the stand. I'm still hoping to hang the RO/DI unit somewhere inside. Also, the New SW and Top-Off reservoirs are going to be two 10 gallon tanks stack on each other via a smaller stand. I'll comment along with the pics:

The next two shots show the mess I was working with:

The next three are the 'After' shots; this is where the raceway comes into play:

Here you can the Apex Jr. with the VDM. I still need to hook everything up; that's for another day.

Lastly, I redesigned the drain with this goofy setup. The stand pipes allow the air escape, minimizing bubbles. It worked; no micro bubbles in the DT. :D
