ok...here we go. Yesterday...i finally did the restack. It took me 8 hours start to finish. here is the before shot of the tank:
here is the tank torn down and ready for rebuild:
here is the beginning of the restack:
the huge a** 60+ odd pound rock (which was what i was waiting for to start this (thank you, Jedistphn):

stacked on bare glass. i left the white sand piled in the back since it was LOADED with live mysis shrimp. the front has a 1/2 inch bed of black sand. the caves have little or no sand under them. I still have christmas lights on and added a blue 25watt uplight under the larger cave that is formed by the huge rock and three other pieces. Right now, with the lights off...it is eerily beautiful...reminds me of the cave dives I did in Belize. The schooling fish are in the larger cave and really seem to like it in there at night with the only light the soft blue from below. Other spots in the tank with the colored lights look like molten lava. It is crazy...and pics just don't do this justice.
here is a night shot, without the cave light on...since i really can't get a good picture of that...you all will just have to come see it in person.
Unfortunately, there were three losses.....cleaner shrimp and clown goby hitched on the live rock and did not notice until too late. My Powder Blue Tang, who was already having a rough time with Milky Skin, just couldn't take the stir up of the sand and even with meds, sadly went to fishy heaven about an hour ago. She put up a good fight, though.
I can't begin to tell you how much I am in love with this tank, now. Once all the corals were placed back in...taking time to place and think about the grow out/in...looking at the way it all came together...I'm in this state of, "i really put this together????" shock. lol. Seriously...I have to admit...stacking rock is an art form...and I have been fortunate enough to have had some excellent teachers in the last year.
For everyone that has contributed to this tank, for the peeps that got irritated by my constant, "refresh, mine" aspect to grabbing coral and fish in the last few months, let me just say, thank you...because without you guys, this dream would not have come true.
