Kat's 120g Build Thread

Super cool Kat!
I love all the caves and the black sand in the front!
Did you have any help?? That is a ton of rock to be moving in one day!
Can you list out what fish and inverts you have in there now? I've totally lost track :)

you must have some sore body parts today!

Vodka dosing (internally with OJ) can help with the rest of the aches and pains

you have NO idea......:lmao:

Kat that stack looks off the hook! Be sure to post more pictures once the tank has settled down. So roughly how many pounds of rock are you using now?

there's gotta be about 200+

Tank looks saweeeet Kat!!!!!!

thank you, Henry!!! gotta have an open house.....

wow everything looks amazing! Sorry about your losses along the way :)

comparatively? losses vs. gains? not so bad.

Looks great. Are you okay?

How'd you lift the big rock up?

took you up on the vodka dosing suggestion....:lmao:
and the rock? one step on the ladder at a time and a weight lifting strap. told ya i coulda helped with the tank!!!!!

thank you sooooooooo much! Nope...did this all by myself. :fun5: Took just over 8 hours. I actually went to bed at 930pm Friday night after the full day of this. It was a lot of rock...but the time went by so fast...I was really quite focused on doing this tank, so much so that I didn't realize how much my back, shoulders, right arm and left side of my neck hurt! Saturday I woke up and felt fine. Thank you, yoga.

Let's see....livestock:
Sailfin Tang, Hippo Tang, Lawnmower Blenny, Flasher Wrasse, sixline wrasse, 4 anthias, 7 green chromis (these guys all school together...so nice.) Psycho Mandarin (who is LOVIN' the live mysis in the tank....how this happen, I have no idea...hitchhikers that got their groove on in the back of the tank :fun4:), 2 cleaner shrimp, 4 pepp shrimp, sandsifting star, blue dalmation star, red tiled star and a porcelain crab that has taken up residence under a yuma and lets me hand feed him. Cleaner crew is a dozen narc snails, 5 conch, an elephant slug (thank you Courtney...doing a great job!) and a bunch of blue leg crabs. I think that's it.....so far.:lmao:

Looks excellent Kat! Great job! ;)

thanks, Mel! See my response to Henry above...Open house...

black sand

looks great Kat

SO GLAD I DID THE BLACK SAND...it looks slick!!!

Kat that looks really great! I love the black sand. I put 40lbs in my 54cornerbow but there was already 30lbs of Fiji Pink. Wish I went all black......

Tank looks amazing Kat. Sorry to hear about Mrs. Powder Blue.

Kat is plenty stronger than we think. She is like the incredible hulk for sure.

the new aquascaping looks wonderfully reef, really night and day from your previous. liking the tunnel in the rear, nice kewl stuff will grow back there, definitely a spot of interest :D

Kat, the stack looks so incredible!! It looks like a natural reef, in miniature. I really think the black sand helps with that somehow. Awesome! I'd love to see it with the white lights on, do you have any pics? :bounce3:

Need more close ups too when everything gets settled!

Hi Lisa...yup...i'll get some now that everything has settled back in. Before I left to come out here to Ohio...I noticed that I have a baby torch coral...

loving the time off...but so miss feeding my fishies and coral friends.

tomorrow...off to the lake. Brother has a fifth wheel permanently set up out there next to a creek...going to take the boat out and go back for a campfire...possibly staying another night at camp, especially if Uncle Bob and Aunt Karen take Liam for a few hours...i'm out for a long quiet hike in the woods.

rearranged the living room....and yes, i know i haven't finished the canopy yet...been a little busy...

love my living room now....yup....that's a HUGE goldfish bowl on the coffee table. I grow the ones Liam wins at carnivals in there and then move them to the pond.

Trust me when i say...i could stack rock all day long and never get tired of it. So anyone out there that wants something stacked? i'll do it.....i also learned from some of the best that i need to keep my arms outta my tanks....that's why i need yours....

LMAO. been a long night with a squirrel........punchy as heck.

UPDATE on 120g...

now that it has settled in....Thank you to Steve for the Haddoni Carpet Nem. Definitely a magnificent creature with a MIND OF ITS OWN. Two potential places i had mapped out in the 120 for him to settle into...and he took neither. For a good part of the first evening home, he floated around the tank, stopping once or twice to check out an area and finally chose the most AWKWARD PLACE IN THE TANK TO FEED HIM. However, as Steve told me, he moved all the sand away to get to the glass...which happens to be in an open cave...dead center...where the light spills down through the top...and the grotto is lit from underneath with the christmas lights. All in all...a fine choice in living spaces. Because...when the tank lights are out...just the moonlights...Haddi is bright bright neon green and his foot is lit up from below. I'll try and grab some pics tomorrow.

Thanks Steve, for the instruction and the trust. He's beautiful.
