Kaylee's 75g upgrade build thread

looks good

Thanks. The sand finally calmed down some. It was nice and clear yesterday until I put the trigger in there and he started digging and stirred it all up again. But so far today it has stayed nice and clear. Thanks again for grabbing that sand for me. Between that sand and my daughter sand the eels (when I get her the second one)will be super happy.

I finally transfered everything from my daughters 56 to the 75 last night. When I got out of work yesterday my wife and me ran down to Aquatic Wildlife and picked up a chain link eel to add to the new tank and they also bought my daughter picasso trigger which was really nice of them. When we pulled into the parking lot we could see this massively awesome piece of dry rock that would be perfect for the eels and the fish. So after we got the eel deal squared away we asked about the dry rock. After getting the price per pound we decided to weigh it and see what it would cost. After it weighed out at 53lbs and the owner said it would cost about $218 we decided against getting it but when I was about to put it back he said he would sell it to us for $150 because he hasnt been able to sell it because of the size........ So I said what the hell and we bought that also. After getting home from Aquatic Wildlife I started to catch my daughters fish and get them started with the acclimation process along with the new eel. While they were acclimating I spent the next 3 hours rinsing the new rock and tearing down the old tank and adding everything to the new 75. Right around 9:30 I had everything added and somewhat organized in the new tank and got it all done with no casualties (thank God). When I get home today I will do some finishing touches and take some pics or a video or something to post. But so far I am very happy with how it turned out.

Sorry. Im typing on my phone and my hands are to big. I was in the middle of the post and I hit the "post quick reply" button and then finished it in edit.

you no we need new pics that rock sounds massive.

Oh man, it is! It takes up almost half the tank. I cant wait until it colors up. It looks a little out of place right now because its all white and the other rock is all colored up but it will be awesome when it gets some color.

Alrighty then, I just got home and am acclimating some fresh water ghost shrimp to salt water. Once I get that taken care of and I put them in the tank I will make the video, since as soon as I put them in there the feeding frenzy will commence and you guys will be able to see both eels and the fuzzy lionfish. Hopefully sometime around 5 I will be able to make the video.

Here is a teaser of the 2 eels. They are already roommates.

Gorgeous chain link, very jealous! I wanna do a Tessalata with my Snowflake eventually when I upgrade.

Thanks, my daughter was super pumped when I brought it home last night. There is a real nice tesselata at Krystal Clear. Its out of my price range though (I think like $139 or something like that) and a bit bigger than what I was looking for too.

They're generally pretty docile. Around feedings they can get aggressive, but my snowflake has bit my hand during feeding. He lets go as soon as he realizes I'm not food (usually he snaps at the food and misses - I feed via Bamboo skewer). My juvenile doesn't draw blood but I'm sure he could probably cut me up a little as an adult. Nothing as far as loosing a finger, I'd assume. They're gorgeous creatures. I think a Tessalata eel, while out of your price range, is a fair price at 139 - they go for 200 on LiveAquaria.

I thought they would too but they seem to like the left side of the tank better for some reason. I think I like that rock better than the eels do, lol.

I will. The domino damsels love that big rock. They shoot in and out of the rock all the time which is nice. At least someone appreciates it, lol. I wish the lionfish would have come out when I was shooting that video. I was certain that when I threw in th ghost shrimp that he would come shooting out from behind the rocks like usual, but maybe he is still getting used to the new tank.
