Kaylee's 75g upgrade build thread

So after about a month of scrambling for the parts I needed to setup my daughters tank upgrade, I am finally getting started. She is a little disappointed that the tank will not be in her room like her current tank is (a 56g column). But because of the size and weight I decided to put it in the livingroom instead. Her new tank is a rr75g and its going to be just a basic setup, no refugium or anything like that just a sump that I built from a 20 long that will house the skimmer, filter sock hanger, and liverock. I have a few more things to work out before I put water in it because my wife doesnt like where its currently at and wants to rearrange the whole livingroom to correct the fung shway I guess, lol. Anyways I will post a bunch of pics when I get home from work or possibly sometime during the day if I get a few minutes. Thanks for looking.

Lol. The reason the 75 is not going in her room is the carpeting in her room. I watched her jump off of her bed last weekend and I thought her tank was going over. I think it wobbled a good 6-7". I almost had to change my pants when I saw that. That was the main reason for her new tank going into the living room, on top of the lack of room and possible weight problems. I think my wife would kill me if I left the 56 set up. She wasnt happy when I came home with the 75, lol.

Alright lets see how many pics I can fire off before I run out of time.

Here is her stand

Inside the stand I put a power strip and a little light for when I have to work in the stand

And a full tank shot with the light I bought from BfishLpond. I know its dirty, it will be cleaned before the water goes in, lol

You probably don't care, but you should stain the stand it'll look so gorgeous. You have the right kind of wood for the job.

I dont think I could stain it without sanding it down anyway. It has a coat of polyurethane or something on it now. It doesnt show in the pic because when I took the pic it was dark and I had to lighten it up to post it. And sanding.a whole stand is way more work than I want to do after working 12 hour shift for 5 straight days.

Will do. How did yours come out? Is the adjustable part what measures the water level in the tank? And most importantly, is it quiet? Lol.

i unfortunately will not be doing my tank upgrade for another 4 months .looks like i will be having back surgery :furious: its killing me looking at the new tank sitting on the floor every day.:headwalls:

That sucks. Good luck with the surgery, hope you heal up quickly. I will let you know about the megaflow once I have it all figured out.

I bought 2 megaflow kits for my tank. It was obnoxiously loud. I ended using the adjustable pipe and remaking the top into a durso. Probably could have been fixed by adjusting the return flow a bit. But the durso top worked to silence it.

I also noticed in the 90 degree pipe on the return there was a little pin hole that was letting air bubbles into the loc-line and filling my tank with bubbles.

You can never have TOO many tanks. always need one for qt. It looks wonderful. I will be over my head, as usual, when it comes to setting up my sump. Hope you are putting the cup holder to good use:lol:
