Keeping Bubble Tips Bubble Tipped?

What is the key to keeping bubble tip anemones looking like a bubble tip.I have seen alot of them that there tenticals are stretched out and don't have that bubble tip look anymore. Is there something you have to do to keep them looking like this or will they all stretch there tenticals out sooner or later.

I've heard it has to do with lighting, but I don't know if stronger lighting leads to more bubble tips or if stronger lighting leads to thin/streched tips.

I have read that they stretch their tentacle's when the are hungrey. When
they have the bubble tips they are full and satisfied.

+1 with surf&turf

I heard they stretch when hungry or need more light, but i have only read this. No real proof though !

I have been told there is no real answer, but from personal exp mine seem to "bubble up" more when I feed them.

I bought mine from a guy who rarely fed it, and I have yet to feed it since I've gotten it and he has nice fat bubble tips so I don't think it's the feeding thing.

SFeST is most likely right because if it were the answer everybody would already know it, but if you dont mind, try feeding it and let us know the results.

NNNNNNOOOOO!

Not this same subject AGAIN! Please use (1) search or (2) the FAQ.

Probably the single most frequently asked question on the site.

I have noticed that mine are more bubbly when wakeing up but I've also been told the bubbles wonder the tank and mine always stay put

Keep the anemone away from clowns... Then keep it in adequate lighting.

I propagate mine. The halves I keep away from the clowns, bubble like crazy.

The hosted half stays straight and stringy.

Okay as stated before this is asked ALOT.But thats okay.

Really there is no real ansewer to this question!I have my own theories about the missing bubbles.I think it could be feeding, light, flow, the amount of rock work it has to hid its foot, the husbandry of the tank, ect.

So we can have theories about this and we can belive them...but more and more people are begining to belive that its as simple as "some have bubble some don't".I myself an woundering about this theories.......

Thats probably the best theory that I have heard.

YUP!
Theories abound but nobody really knows.

My limited experience however leads me to believe that it is mostly dependent on conditions, rather than on the individual anemone or clone.

I got mine from a tank with 8 clones from one original anemone, all with fat bubbles, but in my tank the tentacles are very long and thin. It grows like crazy and split, so it is healthy, but never bubbles. One hosts a pair of clowns, one does not, neither bubbles. Feed the hell out of it or starve it for weeks, no bubbles.

To continue beating a dead horse...

Your theory does not explain the following situations observed in these individuals in the wild:

(1) The partial presence of bubble-tips on the same individual (50% bubble-tipped, 50% not)

(2) The presence of bubble-tipped and non-bubble-tipped clones within the same colony in the same location.
