I have a female osff in a 90 gallon system. Can I safely add more, or will they quarrel?

Does the gender matter?

Thanks

I would look at other peoples experiences in the long thread that's active, or been active recently in this forum. Search on the scientific name if you can't find it. Personally I feel they do better in pairs/groups

Actually, most people (including us) report that these fish tend to do better singly. What typically happens is the males will chase the females around when the food hits the tank, sometimes making it tuff for her to eat. They may do better than pairs in a harem situation, but I can't speak to that personally.

Where I work has a few of them (4). two are kept singly and we have one pair. i have not had a problem getting fthe female who is in the pair to eat but other people have. they are in a 90g and i have the male and female usually eating at the same time. but other days they will be seperated because someone saw the male harrassing the female during feeding.

At one point i beleive we had atleast 4 in one tank and more in others but they fought and killed each other off and had to be seperated. So if you are going to be adding more i would stick with just one more. not sure if gender will matter for you. just make sure that they are both eating you may have to feed them in different locations in the tank at the same time to prevent disputes.
