Keeping seahorses in pairs?

Do you have to keep seahorses in even numbers or is it okay to have three males & four females (just an example)? One of my female Reidi died last night. I need to know if I should find him a new mate.

I've kept odd numbers in the past without any problems.

Thanks. I'm planning to order from Draco Marine tomorrow. They have yellow Reidi's in stock. I'll have to wait a few months to get the red Reidi.

She wouldn't eat every time I fed the others. I would even target feed and still nothing. She mated several times with her mate though. My other three Reidi's are active & healthy. I'm placing an order from Draco Marine tomorrow for some yellow Reidi. I don't want him getting lonely. The male has turned black now (see avatar).
