I'm writing this cause I have had so so luck keeping fish for long periods of time and recently I see my bandit shrimp is nipping on my cardinal and I think my fox face killed my hippo . I just don't get it Every fish I get should I'll get along or maybe I just can't win . I'm going to put all my tangs in next week at one time so there is no dominant tang and I have my fingers x. I need advice how to keep fish healthy and happy I also never really had a disease problem and my fish always seem to be eating...I know there is no way to ask theses questions to a 200.00 fish but maybe my fellow L.I reefers can please help
Thanks Eric

My first thought is aggression. What fish do you have, what fish have you lost, and what size tank are you keeping them in?

I have a 125l. Current fish are

Royal gramma
Watchman goby
6 line
Blue Chromes
Cardinals
Fire fish
Fox face

Fish that died - lawnmower Blenny ,hippo pajama cardinal blue chromis

I've been playing this reef game for a long time and I have a lot of knowledge I just don't have great success with fish living for a long period of time

I just got really frustrated with losing my juvenile hippo and I really believe the fox face probably beat him up because they were the same size

That's really not typical for a Foxface, IME. Each fish is an individual, but I'd be very surprised if that was it.
Did you say 125l as in 125 litre, or is it 125 gallon? Where is that Naso from your picture, now?

I agree with this! My foxface is never aggressive and is usually the fish that gets picked on.
I think one major factor in being able to keep fish long term is being able to start with a healthy specimen and keeping it healthy through proper qt, water conditions, diet and environment.
Did you notice any odd behavior with the fish that died that could maybe help narrow it down to aggression or disease?
