Kelly's 300g in-wall build thread

Yes he arrived with signs of Ich. I did hypo and para guard, garlic, kept ammonia in check. Appeared to get better, looked great & eating then died suddenly 8 hours after pics above. Owen he died he looked like he may have had brook which would have required formalin which I couldn't find before going to work. I tried. Just glad I QT.

The margined Coralfish is awesome and eating like a pig. Just hope he is a good reef dweller because I really like him. The beauty of a copperbanded but the appetite of a clown or tang.
 
Kelly have you had to use that portable ac unit yet? my temps are climbing in my fish room and need to do something about it. so Im looking at ac unit instead of chillers to see if that will work.

Hi all......it's been a long time since I have visited RC. Now that I have graduated nurse practitioner school and actually have a little free time I figured I would provide a little update. The tank is a little over a year old now. The past year was VERY busy for me and unfortunately the tank had to take a back seat to school and work and family at times. But it survived and is well on it's way to being a healthy, thriving tank.

Fish Update
Unfortunately for some unknown reason the fish pictured above in QT did not survive to make it into the DT. However, all of my original fish from my tank set up in 2006 (coral beauty, percula clown, 2 PJ cardinals, & one blue damsel [a model citizen believe it or not], are still alive and healthy. Since April of this year I have added 2 mandarin gobies (one of which committed suicide), 11 blue/green chromis (9 of which are still alive and 1 which has decided to live in the overflow of my tank), 1 diamond goby, and one strawberry pseudochromis. I have had a beautiful powder brown that is healthy, happy, and eats like a horse, in QT for 3 weeks and have a mystery wrasse on order. I am not sure where to go with my stocking list from here, but I am open to suggestions.

Coral Update
I really have not purchased many corals over the last year, but I am working on stocking up. I have a few healthy SPS, several zoas, few ricordeas, and a couple LPS. I had a few SPS deaths over the last year due to some mishaps with pH and calcium reactor. Some of the SPS that I thought were goners are starting to "come back" and some of the others survived the ordeal and are really starting to grow!

All in all, I am happy to be back the swing of things and happy to be back on RC. I will post some pics as soon as I remember how to. Please overlook the fact that I did not take time to clean all the glass and etc, just happy to have time to share a few pics. Also, yes I know the SPS that is white is dead or possibly zombie sps trying to arise from the dead....it is stuck on the rock and I haven't taken the effort to remove it.
 
BTW....as soon as my sign on bonus hits the bank I am in the market for some LEDs. I would appreciate any suggestions in best LEDs for the price. My current lighting is POS from Ebay and its gotta go. I have 2 MP60s and have considered Radions. I also have RKE controller and wouldn't mind a unit that is easy to control via RKE. It has been a long while since I have researched lighting so please speak up and give me some guidance. Thanks in advance.
 
I love my ai sols. They just released the new hydras which are supposed to have great par levels. Maybe check them out. They were a much better price point that the Radeons too.

Update

I finally took the plunge, or should I say the dent in my bank account, and purchased 4 Ecotech Radion Pros for my tank!!! I am so excited; I cannot wait to see how much better my tank looks under quality lighting.

I also purchased 2 acro colonies, 1 birds nest, and a red open brain from LA, and a 5" Australian Coppperband butterfly from LA. I know the butterfly is a risk, but they are truly one of my favorite fish. I will post pics soon. I should get the lights hung this week provided they ship as scheduled.
 
Question, see above in the FTS......I am having problems adjusting the level of water in the DT. I would rather it be an inch lower so you cannot see the Euro bracing. When I attempt to lower the total volume, the last section of my sump goes too low and the pump begins to suck air. I use a reeflo barracuda/hammerhead hybrid and have it restricted about 1/4. Any suggestions?
 
You will not be disappointed with Ecotech's Radion. I have a generation 1 hanging over my 25g cube, and the resulting coral growth and coloration is astounding, to say the least. If you check out my build page, http://www.reefcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2267116, about half way down the first page is a comparison of when I got a colony of poly's, and then a shot from a few months later. I'm truly a believer in Ecotech's products :)

Hey Kelly...first glad to see you back on here and the tank looks great. I would think that the water level in the last section of your sump would be higher since less is being forced into the tank. What section of your sump do you have your ATO switch?

Thanks. It's great to be back and great to have time to spend on my tank finally. I have my ATO switch in the last chamber of my sump, just before the return pump (pump is external).
 
I would put a post in the advanced topics or equipment forums to see what some of the peopel in there have to say about this.
