Kent Marine Coral Vite

I had an order from Foster & Smith already and took the chance to try a new product. Used the premix for 50 gal Coral Vite from Kent and while many of my corals were ordinary in extension, the languishing pearl bubble and plate were delighted. The pearl bubble after dark extended aggressive sweepers, one nearly 4 inches long, and is puffed quite nicely. The plate is more puffed than I've yet seen it. It may not work wonders for every coral, but if a coral is short of nutrients, this stuff seems to do very well. I do note that my acros are well out tonight.

i have used it and it seems to have A positive effect on corals. i wonder if it is sugar based?

It contains a fair dose of magnesium, but a lot of trace elements: you can test for them, and I do test for mg, and will specifically watch it with this product. Re sugar, they state right on the packet, no sugars, nothing of that ilk. I tend to trust Kent: I'm likewise leary of dumping unknowns into my tank, but this is clearly labeled and ingredients are listed straightforwardly. Basically it's a dose of the ingredients that may be in your salt mix, but if you run short, it may be helpful---they're the ones that are used in such tiny doses it's hard to add them alone. I've used 2 doses now and am getting some real high color particularly in a bali slimer, an acropora valida, and a pistillata which has blushed near red. The LPS have expanded, and the plate is brilliant orange. I'm still experimenting on my other LPS about placement, so I'm not sure I have them in the best light, but they are well out and expanded. I'm using this stuff on a trial basis. If the corals continue to do well, I'll use it---but like nm354, I want to watch my levels of certain items.

i use this and it does help replace some used trace elements inbetween water changes which the corals seem to like. doesnt replace the positive effects of a WC but helps during the lull. good product.

In my experiences, I haven't seen a dramatic effect on the overall health of my corals. I guess I haven't had really great success with kent products, other than their kalkwasser.

I've been using Coral Vite since I started my 55g and so far everyone seems to love it.

I have used it, stopped, and used it again on several tanks. I have seen little or no difference in adding the product vs not adding it. None of my corals experience a "lull" between water changes. While certain things can be tested for in coralvite, many others cannot.

I'm still getting better extensions on the polyps with than without: I'm particularly watching a fox I'm rehabbing, and two browned specimens that are recovering their blue---I alternate weeks with it, and it does marginally seem that the blue might sorta, kinda be better in the week after. At least nothing's curling up and dying...but I agree: regular aquarium salt seems to have most of what we're adding here.
