Kenya tree pruning

I have a Kenya tree that is growing so large that it is starting to shade some of my high light corals so I want to trim it a bit.

can I just slice off branches with a scalpel or is there some other procedure or things I need to be concerned about? thx!

I would just cut off the top and call it a day. It's definitely going to look a little odd for awhile, but given time & the right conditions it WILL grow back. Here's a picture of my Toadstool coral just to give you an example. You want it to look something like this when your done.
If you just want to thin the coral out though, a sharp pair of scissors is your best friend. Just clip away. GL.

that's a little too drastic for me ..... :)

I'll just prune back some of the branches with scissors, thx

It may be, but it is correct! I did the same thing Cloak recommends and found that these things will not die.

One piece of advice. Pull it out of your tank. If you do it inside your tank and a piece floats away and lands somewhere else, it will grow there too. These things will take over everything in a high nutrient tank. Good luck.

appreciate the feedback but I'm good at keeping the small pieces which have detached before from growing elsewhere in my tank and I really like the way it highlights my tank so just a small pruning is all that's needed. Not interested in getting rid of it .... Just wanted to be sure on the method ...
