Kessil A350

Yeah we need some spread info!!! I'm hoping the people who got A350's early can give some info on how far the spread is on the A350 vs the A350w.

I have a 120 (4x2x2) that I want to light with two of them. If the narrow lens covers ~2ft I'd prefer to use those, for more intensity. Instead of the A350w which looks like it is made to cover a larger than 2x2ft area.

I have two A350 not the A350W and my tank is 4 foot wide like yours. My lights are in a canopy so they are only about 7 inches off the water and they really do not cover from one side to the other. I believe if I were to raise them to 12 inches off the water it would be perfect.

Hey Joe, thanks for the info!

I've got 16in inside my canopy, so 16in minus however tall the Kessil is, thats the highest I could raise mine.
How tall is the A350? Looks like 4-5inches in the pictures.

Hey dude, long time no see! Where ya been hiding? I suppose it's my return. I'm using an AI nano on the 22g now but need something brighter!

you need about 6 inches to hang them so you will be over 12 inches above you water, Perfect

My LFS is supposed to get a A350 in, in afew days. I'm hoping to play with it and get a idea of how intense/far it will spread. Being that it is made to peirce below 24" I fear it might bleach out corals.

Can you please post a pic of your tank with one of you A350's off, but the other one at 100% blue and white?

I'd like to see how intense the narrow is.

Frick, based on your experience with the prototype what do you feel is an accurate spread on this light?

I can get about 36" from 30" away from the light. But that is out of water. I am not sure if mine is the final lens and reflector either.

So who thinks the A350 would rock over a 22g nano?:)

A little overkill, I think you would be fine with the A150W.

Kessil posted this comparison shot of a the light hanging 8" above a 30" deep tank. It should give an idea on spread.

Maybe it's just me, but the spread and perceived intensity seems low. I really don't know if this will replace a 250 watt halide's power...and probably can't compete with a 400. For those of us that love light loving clams and sps near the sandbed, this may not work.

I got MORE INFO ON THE DIMENSIONS!!!:celeb3:

"The spread for the Tuna Blue units will depend on how far away from the surface of the water they are suspended, we have a photo of one of our local stores that let us demo the 2 different Tunas on their 72"x24"x30" 224gallon display, the photo of the tank with both Tunas are on our facebook page. You can take a look at that to give you an idea of what the spread is like."

And info on the gooseneck..."We are hoping to have the new A350 gooseneck available some after the A350W is available for sale. This may be around June or perhaps later in July."

If thats the whole six foot tank I am amazed.
And on a side note I now think I am changing my pre-order to 2 narrows.

yeah I'm in the planning stages of a 36"L x 30"W x 20"T tank and thinking 2 of the wide versions would do it for me if I go the kessil route. Its this or a 8 bulb 24w ATI dimmable sunpower light. Not being able to dim the kessil via a controller is a real downer for me. Decisions decisions.

the par numbers look good according to Neptune but I was kind of hoping for some more numbers in the spread. I left a message on their Facebook page to see if par numbers could be recorded away from directly below the light. Ie 12" down and 6" to the left or right. I think information like that is more beneficial than just directly below the light.

This model isn't controllable, probably have one that is in a year seeing as that seems to be the only thing stopping most from getting one. I don't know for sure that they will but but I highly suspect Kessil will adapt to that part of the market. Personally I wouldn't let anything control my tank so it's not a big issue. I'm definately considering one for my 58, at 36" I guess the wide would be the best investment, right?
