Kessil Club

Yes, why?
Because I posted just before you asking what others are doing and I'm 6.5" above water on my 29 bc and only running 2 hours max at 27%. 10 hours total day. I'm a mixed reef but can't figure out what's best for my tank. Lost color in sps and if I up the intensity I think I will lose my lps.

Gotcha. I have a mixed reef, including sps. Have the led above my tank about 12inches. If that gives you an idea

If i raise mine higher (gooseneck) then it spills out the tank too much. So I guess 6 inches closer to the water at 27%/30% might be comparable to70% @ 12". Idk I'll keep adjusting a little a week.

I'll show you a pic of mine tomorrow with lights on to show you.

Ok thanks. This is mine. Curently it's 14%/10% about to shut down for the night.

My only regret is not doing it sooner. I converted from a rapidled 48 led setup to 2 kessil a360we's over my 90 gallon mixed reef. The kessils have been nothing short of amazing! I am currently running them at 35% color and 40% intensity.

just my 2 cents.....that is a TON of light for that tank. if you notice at the site, they recommend the light hang around 2 feet above the water. I have 3 360we and a 350N over my 25 inch deep\tall 143g, and the closest light is 10 inches above the water. The N hangs closer to 15 in above.

I guess you could run them at very low intensity and tweek the color to wherever you want, but i just finished 4 a150w's over a standard 75g which grew sps lps and softies of all sorts, and i FRIED a few more corals than i would like to admit before i understood how bright they are. If you are bleaching, you are BLASTING them with light.

just curious, did you consider the a160WE before you bought the 360.....you may think about changing it out. you will definitely have a lot of potential potential if you keep the 360, lol. Nice tank though, it looks good. That light looks really cool over the small footprint, like bam! here's the Sun!

jtgrimes,
I have a 160 over a 23x12x14 (22g) nano, about 8" - 9" above the water line. It's running on a 12hr cycle, ramps up for 3hrs (starting at 14%) to 85%, which runs for 6hrs, then ramps down for 3hrs to 14%, then off. Color starts at 0% then up to 60%, then to 0% on the same schedule as the intensity. Controlled by my apex. Mostly sps and I see growth weekly, if not more. Only dose alkalinity daily and weekly water changes, no skimmer.

I have to agree with the a160 comment. I just setup a 36 inch 50g w/ 2 a160we and its way plenty of light. The a360we is rated for a 24x24 inch spread. The a160 would be perfect.

Cool. I might have to try that. I have a different ramp as follows, using kessil controller, want an apex Ahaha.

Color/Intensity

9:00am - 0/5
1:00pm - 50/60
3:00pm - 60/70
5:00pm - 50/60
9:00pm - 0/0

I have a 37 gallon with a center brace and I am changing from AI Hydra to Kessil. Do I need one or two of the A360W? I was thinking that if I get one and it it in the middle it will be right above the brace.

What are the dimensions?

Yeah I agree it's over kill of a light for my footprint but I also am one of those guys that upgrade down the road and always buy the better for down the road sakes. With that said I'm not bleaching the corals other than the mystic sunset when placed high. Lower does well. I believe I had nitrate and phosphate issues once I pulled the rear chamber rubble rock and sponges and went with media basket and skimmer. Skimmer is still breaking in so it caused a spike I'm assuming. I posted just curious what others are doing bc I have had some tell me they are running 70% or better intensity in smaller mixed tanks. I called the bluff on that. I've got it at 27% intensity and according to Kessil the color has no affect on the coral as the spectrum is correct regardless. I'll run the 360 at a 1/4 of its potential and be happy to know I have a beast when I upgrade.

My tank and what ramp currently looks like.

Does anyone think the shimmer is just too much? I've looked at a lot of videos of kessils and the shimmer looks like it's gonna give you a seizure.

I love the shimmer. One of the reasons why I chose kessil. Better than tank looking like Christmas lights with other led's like radion. [emoji1]

Mxett, that is a phenomenal little tank on that coffee table. I am now inspired for when I'm old enough that my kids won't destroy it. It is awe inspiring.

The gooseneck doesn't allow 2 feet over tank. I'm not bleaching anything except the mystic sunset which I moved to the sand bed in shade to try to save. I've just decided to lower the intensity and adjust up once corals are stretching more for the light. I've been getting brown and tan color in my sps except one. I've had issues with nitrates and phosphates so I've been doing 2 water changes a week to lower the numbers. I think that browned a couple corals.
