Kessil Club

Mount completed. Pay no attention to the dirty tank. I am in the middle of implementing and automatic water changing system.

14' reef lit with 6 Kessil 360's

The more I read about and see the great colors these give corals I'm wanting them more these Chinese knock off leds just aren't giving me near the color and growth I want I'm either going to go with 2 360Wes or go all t5(I will miss the shimmer effect though!) lighting but would 2 of these be enough for my normal rec. 75g dt with center brace or would a couple t5s help supplement the lighting with the kessils?
My tank is sps dominant with LPS and zoas

Supplement for sure. I ran two A360NEs over my 36x18x24 tank for a year and while color was good growth was not. I added T5s on 12/12 and my tank has freaking exploded. Corals that haven't done anything for a year are showing much better PE and are starting to branch. My softies and LPS are doing even better - my 3 Sunny Ds, which started out as 1 14 months ago, suddenly have 3 babies. Rasta (2) which have done nothing for a year are making at least one baby. Red Planet (toward the bottom of the tank) has always been green with no PE and it's already getting pink on the corallites and I've never seen it looking so good. Wish I had done this sooner. :) I LOVE my Kessils and will keep them but as far as supplementing goes, I can see the proof with my own eyes!

Kessil is good for LPS and softies in my opinion and observation .

For SPS, I am yet to find it out but to my doubt my green digi goes faded or turning brown when place closer to light but if farther they turn better color and green with PE.

I have combo mine with 4 T5

why did you go with ne instead of we?

Because my tank is 24" deep, and I wanted to keep SPS and possibly a clam. It was recommended by my LFS who's one of the most respected coral guys in L.A. - he was so sure he said he would swap them for the WEs if I wasn't happy with the spread.

It'll be 3 weeks this weekend since I added the T5s and the difference is really apparent.

If my new tank is 54 x 40 x 22, could I get away with 3 a360W and 4x 54 t5 to keep sps and clams? Keep in mind I plan to keep all corals under the light, with low light corals or even shadows on the edges

Ok so android support for AP700 just made my year; And not to look a gift horse in the mouth but does anyone know if there is any plan or whisperings of apex controllability?

So I bought an AP700 for Black Friday, but I'm still setting up my aquarium. I'm heavily invested in the Apex system and I can't quite figure out if the AP700 works with Apex. I completely assumed this when I bought it? Does it not? I really hope so.

The AP700 isn't controllable by the Apex yet but that should be coming in the not so distant future. As far as I am aware, it will be a cable free control that is handled via WiFi. A timeline hasn't been released for that capability but it should be coming as there were rumblings of that capability at MACNA 2015.

Oh that's great to hear. I don't mind waiting. I just don't want to run multiple apps control different devices. I basically want everything to just be run off of Fusion. But my tank is still likely a few months away from having water anyways, so no big deal.

Just set mine up 2 days ago, it's connected to my wifi network and then I use the app on my iPad to program it.

It took about 3 hours to get the hang of the app but it's working fine now. I have acclimation, a great dawn to dusk setting and moonlight phase. I think the moonlight is bright but I'm working with it.

I'm happy so far, would like apex or other integration where I can check my lights when I'm not home.

Hey Scott, do you have that AP 700 ? Was think of getting rid of my Ecotech gen 1 for the Ap700.

Yeah, I would think you'd definitely be fine with that combo and setup if you placed your livestock in relation to it. :)

Kessil AP700

I mounted the Kessil AP700 over my 50 breeder as a test run before my new 4 foot tank.

Does anyone have any sleek mounting options for adding t5s to the new 4 foot tank?

It's a rimless tank and my wife doesn't want to do a hood or canopy.

Bend electrical conduit and paint it with glossy black appliance paint. Use brackets to attach it to the stand. It's pretty unobtrusive.
