Is there a max on intensity that I should stop at with 2 360s over a 21" deep tank? I started keeping my color at 40% with my intensity at 30% and have moved up to 50% intensity.

Have a a softie tank as well as a rainbow BTA and started at 30% for acclimation of the bubble tip. My gonipora, bubble coral, Duncan, frogspawn all do well the more intense I go. Have two leather corals that just do not seem to be happy in the tank.

So big question is what is the cap on intensity for a tank of this setup? Thanks!

I have a 21" deep tank and am maxing out intensity at 55% and 25% max color. I have happy corals. Mostly SPS and LPS middle and top, with some exceptions. The only thing I struggle with now is Acans. I only have one happy Acan.. the other, I just can't make happy, but keep trying. Pics in my blog if you want to see. I could probably go higher in intensity, but corals are happy right now, so I'll resist the urge.

I've found if you're struggling with acans then start them off in the sand in indirect light. Get them eating and fatten them up before moving them into more intense lighting. It takes quite awhile, but then all of a sudden you'll hit the sweet spot and be able to just throw them in your tank. :)

Awesome. I will try that. thanks.

I am also wondering this. Does anyone have any input on running a mix of 160we and 360we? If the 160we are run on their own program the intensity could be turned up compared to the 360we.

Yeah, I'm doing that right now only because I had the 160 laying around and not in use. I have all 3 daisy chained and running the same program. I am upgrading to the Apex soon from the Apex jr. and will run the 360s off the apex and the 160 off the Kessil controller for a separate mainly just blue program

What mounts are you using for your Kessils ?

Picked up an A360WE for my 29g reef tank.:D Wow! What a huge difference going from the Current Marine Orbit LEDs. You're welcome corals!

The 360s are on LeRusso designs and the 160 is on a Kessil mounting arm. One of the two I bought for the AP700. The Kessil mounting arm is amazingly well designed.

For the one that is on the Kessil mounting arm, can you swivel the light side to side like you have it on the LERusso design?

no not really because the swivel action would require turning the tip, but then you would also turn the slot that the cords go through. That is the one drawback. You could put some sort of swivel between the lamp and the arm though if you could find something that would work.

I have a 60" aquarium (60" long x 18" wide x 26" high - Marineland/Perfecto 120 XH).

I only (and in the foreseeable future) have moderate light corals - frogspawns and hammers, etc.

Would 1 Kessil AP700 be sufficient?

It states that the spread is 48" - so I would have 6" left over on each side...

2 seems like overkill?

Hey everyone.....I'm just setting up a custom aquarium. It's going to be a shallow mixed reef with dimensions 6' X 4', and 18" tall. I'll keep a mixture of LPS and SPS and I'm thinking about a Kessil only lighting setup. Seeing that the 360we can cover a 24"X24" area, I was thinking that I'd go with 6 of those (2 rows of 3), which would cover the exact dimensions of my tank. Seeing that my tank is so shallow, should this be sufficient for SPS in the upper-half of the tank, and maybe a clam or 2 at the bottom?

Any thoughts?

well after FAR to long debating (and working my way from black boxes all the way to radions several times) I finally realized I wanted kessil. I was planning to go for one A360we but didn't like the ideas of shadowing and adding a second was quite expensive.

last weekend I drove down to tampa to a not so LFS (1.25hrs) and just happened to notice an A160WE setup on display. Turns out they were getting out of Kessils and were offering this entire setup for 30% off. my decision was made.

I will be adding a second A160WE and spectral controller down the road. For now I am kind of test driving to make sure I am going to like the setup. the shimmer is a bit overwhelming. I moved my returns so that I get no surface agitation and the mp10 is as low as it can go without just blasting the rock.
