Kessil Club

Those of you using t5s for accent lighting along with your kessils. How long do you typically run them. I currently run my 360 on its highest intensity for a range of 4 hours and I was thinking the same for the t5 during this time. Would that be ok?

Need some kessils users give me a good advise , I am almost thinking my kessils is not performing well to my Acros , not coloring up and even go dark , I wonder if it is my setting on colors and intensity is not correct .

I got 2 kessils A360WE hang about 55cm from the top layer of my live rocks and that's where my Acros located. Or from the lights to my tank base glass (bareback tank) is 75 cm.

My LPS is fine but my complain is my Acros is not coloring up, below is my setting:

I have seen someone here has color set as low as less than 50% or even less to 10%, I know the lowest color the bluer and this may be the actual lights our color needs .

I also understand LED are useless to Par meter that is reason why I am not considering to buy one.

One more questions :
Corals dark due to light is not enough ?
Corals bleached due to light is too strong ?

Tell me , what should be the right setting for color vs intensity .

Thanks

Thats only 180 watts of LED power at 100% intensity. I would slowly over weeks crank it up to 100% and see how they respond. I would think that only the ones directly under the lights would do well. A PAR meter would tell you for sure.

Was hoping someone could help me with a question. I've got 2 A160WE and the Kessil controller coming for a new build I'm doing. My question is do I need to order any other cables to hook the lights to the controller or will they come with everything I need?

you will need one cable to jump from one light to the other. Just go to Walmart and buy a 3.5mm cable in whatever length you need

I got a brand new A160WE and noticed the color was different from one side of the tank to the other. Not a lot, but noticeable. I have my tank sitting in a corner and the light spillage against the walls made this very noticeable.

Can anyone confirm that this is normal? From looking at the light's reflection off the water surface, it appears all chips are working.

Yes it's normal. I see that with my A360WE lights. One casts a green hue to the wall, the other a purple. Tank is doing great. I think it's just how the LED array casts light through the lens.. you are fine.

Added a t5 for accent lighting to my tank today. Located on the back side of my stand pointed at my back wall. Definitely makes the tank look awesome with the kessil.

Questions though. Those who are running t5 to fill in shadows etc, how long are you running them during the day? All day? Certain hours? Where mine is located will it even do harm to coral running all day.

Not the best pic, took with phone, but wanted to give you an idea.

I have since switched to 65% color from 30% but it sure feels very white and has lots of glare in the tank. Do you think having the 360s up off the tank a bit is super important?

Right now I have the 2- 360s over a 36 gallon tank which I know can seem excessive but I have them 4 inches off the water to keep light spill down and just backed the intensity down to 45%. The corals are all doing very well but just looking for some input on what is the best path for a basic setup.

Well that's disappointing considering one of their selling points is:

"Color Mixing

Different wavelengths within a single LED array are seamlessly blended before leaving the light, emitting a uniform color with widespread coverage."

I'll just turn the light so the knobs are lined from front to back and the difference in color won't be as noticeable.

I have mine five inches above the water.

how wide of a tank can ap700 sit on with the mounting legs?

I'm considering ap700s to light a 6' x 30" wide peninsula.
but restriction is lights have to be mounted. no hanging.

my bad, I should give more info...
was thinking of mounting them perpendicular to the tank.
maybe 3 or 4 of them across the 6' span.

but will the mounts extend 30" across? whats the max they can reach?

Lights are 20" long and the arms are 11.2" each so you should be ok.

A better alternative is to use a mount like from www.6061.com/Kessil_AP700.htm

Picture shows it mounted parallel but from taking with him, you can mount it perpendicular to the tank or parallel to the mount.

Anyone have insider scoop on any new potential releases? I am planning on upgrading to kessil a360we but if they are releasing something within the year I can wait.
