Kessil Club

I find that highly unorthodox and probably totally unnecessary. I'd keep it at 12 hour light cycle and call it good. I've played around with going white on my Kessils and the only thing I noticed is more algae growth. I keep it pretty much on the blue side unless I'm taking photos.

Ok thanks guys. I thought having it closer to 10000k would mean higher growth like what my 400w halides were doing. 20000k halides didn't seem to show the same growth as my 10000k Xm bulbs. I'm new to LEDs as I have just got back into the hobby after 10 years out.

Club Kessil, I come to you for help!

I'm going to be doing a Red Sea Reefer 350 (47x21x20) and am wondering about the Kessil ap700. I see a lot of people are using it over this sized tank, but should that suffice for an SPS dominated aquarium? Would two a360w's work?

Thanks!

Two 360we has more control, mounting, and spacing options. The lighting is pretty much the same. I'd keep your SPS coral placement closer to the center of the lights rather than far off to the side. You should use a PAR meter though.

Boom, I like it. Plus, I can always grab a third of needed.

I have 3 Kessil 360WE's on a 93 bow tank. Three are perfect for this application. I never go above 40% blue/white and never above 70% intensity. They are 9" above the water line. Outstanding coral growth. Super happy with this tank. Be sure to wipe off the lenses every week or par will be decreased.

This count as joining the kessil club? Lol

Love the shimmer and colors.

I had two A360WEs over a 2 x 1.5 x 1.5 tank - SPS growth was poor at best.

Good to know...I guess two of them over my 4 foot tank definitely isn't going to do it then.

Granted, my tank is going to be a mixed reef with SPS (monti cap, Birdsnest, and stylophora) closer to the surface.

I have had 2 360we for 9 months. I have had good growth on Euphyllia Acros Birdsnest monti and Stylo. One softie also which has grown ridiculously. I've added a third 360we a while ago. Can't say it has changed so much yet. So I'm pretty satisfied. I'm curious to see what happens if I also add a couple of T5's. :)

Tank size 36"x20"x22"

Hello rc,

Have a question for you. I two kessils160 over my custom lps dominated 30 gallon frag its 40x15x12. You think I can lower intensity of the lights? I have them ramping up to 60%. You think I can safe & slowly lower my intensity just to see how the corals and anemones react? The lights are approximently 12 - 14 inches from the highest corals. How high do you keep your lps corals and medium light inverts from the light, and what intensity do you use? There's a picture attached so you can take a look.

Hi. New to this thread. I've not pulled the trigger until now on Kessils. I've been running T5 but like the shimmer of the Kessils so I bought 3 second hand a150 ocean blues. Going to use in parallel with my T5 (although I may lose my t5 altogether). My tank is LPS dominant. Once I get them up i will post pics.

I would not call Kessil underrated.

They are very very popular and one of the best selling LED's out there.

I know a ton of people who have them.

I have

A150 10K Sky Blue

A150 15K Ocean Blue

A150 20K Deep Ocean Blue Actinic

I will be getting an A160 soon.

And then the Spectral Controller after that.

What size tank for the 3 a150s? What corals?

If the corals are happy and growing, then why change it?
