So, I guess it's the intensity that is most important.

Does anyone have two a360s over a 6 foot tank? One of the key themes of this thread is shading? What does the shading really look like if they are placed 10-12 inches above waterline and evenly spaced. I'd be curious to see.
Thanks.

That's spreading them really thin. If that is your planned set up what do you want to keep? 4 fixtures on a 6' tank and you could eliminate a lot of problems. 3 would be ok also.

I'm thinking three. I've seen videos on youtube where that looks perfect. My supplier says he has set up a few tanks with two and they look nice.

I only run soft and LPS.

Two for looks sure! However if you want to grow something then I wouldn't spread a 360 more than 2'X2'

My experience is that you really need more kessils than most are running. If it was my tank I would try and get at least 4 360's in addition to a couple 160's on a 6 ft tank.

I just installed 4 Kessil A360we's and two E5's on my 250 deep dimension. I set the Kessil controller on acclimate for 14 days. Where do I determine what time the lights come on etc. Would it follow my regular schedule?

I'll be swapping over to a pair of 360WEs this week on my standard 75. Saw a post earlier in the thread that mentioned 22" coverage at 4" over the water. The math looks correct and I've seen a number of tanks with the lights under 8" with what appeared to be great coverage. I can supplement with a couple T5s if need be but based on what I've read and seen thus fare, this seems to be feasible without the T5s. Any input on this?

I just bought a couple of A360we's as an upgrade with goosenecks. Is there some trick to getting the gooseneck to stay up? My 360s end up falling towards the water, which has a screen top, but it's still unnerving, and obviously alter the lighting angles I want. I'm going to keep playing with it, but figured I'd ask.

Anyone?

The goosenecks are kinda a pain. I ended up buying the AP700 arm tank mounts for my A360we's.

Ok, glad to know it's not just me. :-)

I saw the mounting arms. If they worked with an articulating mount that would be awesome, but doesn't look like they would.

Maybe if I tighten up the wires I have wrapped around the gooseneck that might create additional tension to keep it from falling. I expected something a bit better with the gooseneck. Again, need to play with it more. I might be getting ahead of myself.

A160WE or A360WE?

A160WE or A360WE?

Hi, I am new to this forum and just start a new small tank for LPS. I am considering to get Kessil A16OEW for this 18"L x 12"W x 16"H. However, my LFS advises me to get A360WE instead if I am going to upgrade my tank size in the near future. My concern will be on whether A360EW will be too intense for my small tank or not? Even thoughbit can be tuned down for its intensity. I do plan on buying the control as well.

Your advice will be appreciated.

kessils only really go down to like 10% anyway, but i mean, in terms of the minimum being too much? I think you'll be ok...You can raise it higher off the tank, too, of course that will spread it more as well.

i'm using a single a360we on my 60cube which is 24x24x24, and many would consider that about the maximum of what a single a360 can actually do. We'll see if that ends up being enough or not, this tank is only getting started. I did have someone trying to sell me on an ap700 for this tank, but that seemed a little crazy to me. though i saw someone with an ap700 on a 45 cube and it looked OK, it's just overkill. In the end, I emailed kessil, and asked what they thought, and they said the ap700 was overkill and get an a360we, so I did, haha.

You will be just fine. You have plenty of control to dim it down as needed.

So, I just purchased kessil 360s for my tank. I'm changing out from T5 with old bulbs and poor output.

I'm wondering what you all started your intensity at and photoperiod for acclimation. Of course, I understand to increase intensity slowly over months. So, I'm curious what a good place is to start. The tank is a typical 120 gallon 6 foot. The lights will be hung 6-8 inches (as high as I can get in my canopy).

Thank you.

Thx for the advice from LXXero and Slief. Then I will get the A360WE for the near future upgrade of tank size. Should I start at like 20% intensity first? Just worry about bleaching.

Thanks everyone.

It's really going to depend on how high off the water you have the light. I would likely start at around 30%. I would increase the intensity around 2% per week and no more than 10% a month. This allows you plenty of room to observe your corals and back off a few % as soon as you see them respond adversely without doing any damage. Then allow the corals a few weeks to settle down before increasing again. Others tend to raise their intensity faster but I err on the side of caution. These lights are really powerful. Much more so than meets the eye. On a larger tank, I might suggest starting closer to 40%. As for photo period, just don't run your peak intensity more than 4 hours a day to start out. My photo period is 12 hours but only for of that is peak intensity. The rest is a nice gentle ramp up and ramp down.

So this is 30gl. Breeder it has only one 360w with a kessil controller the light is directly centered in the tank. I have it set 9" over the water, the color is set to 20% and intensity is set to 100%. This took a while to get it to these numbers. But as you can see the Zoanthids are really stretching for light. I had to bring in the coarls closer together to make up the 24" that kessil recommends. Now I was just about to purchase another kessil 360w but I thought why do that if I can't get my softies to grow under the one light. I will definitely miss the shimmering effects with the kessil but over 6 months I should see some growth.
