I have 4 Kessil 360we's on my 240 (8') FOWLR because I like the shimmer, but I'm getting a little shading on the edges and between lights. I was wondering if the A80's would help with shading as it's a FOWLR I don't want to get anymore 360's. I did have some E5's I was going to use, but they don't run in my retrofit so I took it out.

How far off the water are they mounted? Can they be raised?

That's part of the problem the canopy is only about a foot tall so add the kessils and about 5-6" off the water

I had 4 on 5 ft tank and was about right. 4 on an 8' tank is going to have a lot of shadows.

If you can mount them directly to the canopy (not hanging), use a swivel mount and angle the 2 outside ones towards the inside. You can also move the 2 outside ones further out. If you can about 30deg, it will help cover the center better. Moving them outside will help cover the edges if you angle them.

If your not looking to get anything out of the light except aesthetics and some supplementation on the stuff up high, then you would be fine. that's actually what I am doing except two 160's with a couple photon v2's. The problem with the 160 is that it either needs to be hung lower to get penetration which causes a more focused light and more shadows, or higher up and it doesn't penetrate that good.

I'm planning on running a mixed reef, with a few sps in the top half to top third of the tank. Almost all of the rock is directly under the tek fixture.

Just thought I could save a few bucks by buying 160s rather than the 360s

Looks like if you talk to Ssteve you can save a bunch of money and still go with 360s.

Is there a simple modification I can do to the AP700 arm mount, so that I can tilt the lights slightly toward the back of the tank?

I'm not sure how long the screw is that connects to the arm, but you could put a nylon washer (or any washer) between the fixture and the arm, essentially lowering the front a little.

You could possibly get the extensions for those arms and mount those to a board and place it behind the tank at a slight forward angle. Depends on how much room you have behind your tank.

Thx, its for a future new build so I have flexibility to rig it hiwever is best. Ive got one ap700 on my 75g, and will be getting a 2nd for a 72x30x24. And currently ive cut out black poster board and attached as blinders, and I cant believe alot of others dont have this issue?

Even my 2 yd old gets blasted if shes just standing a few feet in front of the tank.

Is there a maximum number of 360we that can be linked together? I have 6 right now linked together and for some reason one of them doesnt go off at night.
