Kessil Club

Shading is why it's suggested that a T5 or other form of light is used in conjunction with Kessils. I'm using power compacts with my Kessils, because I have several.

Lol you guys saying there is no shading are kidding yourselves.

You can avoid most shading problems by aiming your lights in different directions. It's a trade off between beautiful, clean lighting and sterile fluorescent. I'll take a little shading with beautiful contrast and motion over dull T5's any day.

I agree. T5 main lights with some led spot lighting is perfect

This is so silly. We aren't debating which light grows coral best regardless of any other factor. T5's are king in this regard. Kessils simply look better, use way less electricity and grow coral nearly as well.

Thing is, there are always other factors. Visual appearance being key in display aquariums. If kessils grow all corals well and one prefers shimmer over a flat appearance, why not just kessils if one prefers?

Seems its more just personal preference..

Uh, yeah. I agree. That's why I have 6 over my tank. Didn't you see my pictures right below his?

These are Current USA 250w with 2 x 39wHO with heavy ballasts you could light a cigarette off. New bulbs would be $120 or so, freight from Atlantic Canada to ?? would be ??, customs, duties and tariffs (thank you Trump) and they are 6 yrs old, bought 2nd hand, but used less than 5 months by me. I switched them out when they needed new bulbs and finally got kessils. Saved on heat mitigation, buying new bulbs every yr and electricity (330w vs 90w) per fixture. Weight would be approx 35lbs ea with the ballasts. Let me know via PM.
