So i finally started my own 180 gallon build. I found this tank off a local website. With the tank, i got a matching stand, and some of the equipment. I went with pvc plumbing.

Gear list for the gearheads:

reef octopus 150 in sump skimmer
500 gallon carbon reactor
vortech mp40w x1 (I will eventually get more)
2200 gph easypro pump
solar flare leds

I know... My sump is very messy, I will probably zip tie the chords together.

I want a bunch of stuff. 30-50 fish. Definitely some chromis, clowns, wrasse, gobys, pseudo, tangs, anything that is reef safe. Want to start with softies and eventually add lps and sps.

Had to set up most of the pvc, also created a seperate compartment in the sump. Im really bad at siliconing so dont make fun of how messy it is lol.

In a little 180 gal? Not likely. Once you get rocks and a few corals in there count yourself lucky to get 10-15 in there comfortably.

With all my filtration and water changes I think I will be fine. Also forgot to mention I have a refugium that isnt shown.

20-30 fish in a 180 is a ton... unless they are little tiny fish... My stocking list for my 180 is 15 and i would not go anymore

def don't mean to jump on the bash wagon here. but your vision of this system should be revamped honestly. your way over thinking your stocking list. water changes help. but you would have to do massive changes to keep up wit the very over crowded tank, and that's not good. way to easy to mess up water chemistry, and the kicker here is, you say with your filtration? you have a skimmer that is under rated by 30 gallons. that skimmer is rated for a 150G tank. so that exact skimmer would be "ok" for your entire system wit a MAX of 2 clownfish. with say 15-18 fish. your gunna need a skimmer rated for a 300g tank or even bigger.

again. not tryin to join in on the bash session. but your thought process is way off and hope you reevaluate your long term goals with this system. but that skimmer has to be replaced before you start really adding bioload to the tank...

Thanks for your imput. I will take this into account when adding fish.

I know I want a bunch of chromis to be schooling around.

Those won't school unless they feel threatened and they most likely will end up killing each other off
