Klein's Butterflyfish Color Variation

I want to get a Klein's Butterfly, but I've noticed a lot of variation in how they look. Some are bright orange with iridescent blue spots, but others just look muddy and drab. Is this related to collection location, sex, age/maturity or any other factor as far as anyone knows? Don't want to order one sight unseen and end up with a subpar fish.

I understood it is due to their collection location. The really orange ones are quite pretty.

Any idea on where the nicer ones come from? I would assume Hawaii but you know what they say about assuming...

The nicest one I have ever seen was under sunlight. This really brought out the colours, especially the blue. The same fish under aquarium lighting wasn't as vibrant but still nice. This was an indo caught one and I haven't seen a hawaiian to compare but would suggest lighting plays at least a part.
