Koralia Evolution running backwards?

Wow wish I would have seen this post about a year ago before buying 6 of these... over 2 years and they still have not corrected the problem. all of my 1050's run reverse more than forward.

Not doubting anyone's account, but I have two 1050's and one 1400 on a Red Sea wave maker. I haven't ever had a problem with them starting in reverse. I clean them, including the bearing and propeller, in vinegar about once every two weeks. It's odd that some would have this problem and some would not.

If you sent them an email, they used to send replacements for free. I've probably had 8 or so covers sent as replacements. I have 4 1050's and 1 1400 that have broken covers due to running them on a Digital Aquatics RKL, cycling every 30 seconds. I've sent them 3 emails in the last 4-6 months, with no response. I've even attempted to send an email from a different mailing address just in case they decided not to send me any more. Still no response. I highly doubt I'll be purchasing any more Koralia's, at least never adding them to any sort of cycling controller. I have 3 Vortech MP40's between my 150 and 92, I plan transitioning totally in that direction.

**update** they emailed me back today, they said to let them know if any parts were broken and they would replace them, Ill update when they send...

I've contacted them for new grill covers. They break about every 6 months are so. They are slow to get back to you through email but after about 3 weeks of from the first email I had new covers.

Well took about 3-4 weeks but received new covers, put one on and... backwards, reset a couple times and every time after the first went correct way...

Yikes, I was getting ready to pull the trigger on a set and a controller for my 125 upgrade.... Have they resolved this issue yet or are people just dealing with it?

Mine is about a year old and does it mostly when we start everything back up after a water change. I just pull the plug in and out until it reverses back. It's a pain. I won't buy another one.

I had two brand new out of the box that started up the wrong direction 20-30% of the time. Sent one back to Hydor and they "fixed" it. It did nothing different once I received it back - still ran backwards 20-30% of the time. Replaced it with a Tunze Nanostream and never looked back. Does what it's supposed to do, 100% of the time.

Personally, I'm done with Hydor. In addition to the backwards Evos, I have had two of the Nano Evos where the potting around the coil was compromised. "Compromised" means flaked apart and let salt water into the electronics. The first one I found when corals started looking sickly. Luckily only lost one coral. I replaced that failed unit with another Nano. That one just was removed from my tank last month after I found out it too was "leaking" current into my tank. This time is was caught before any creatures showed signs of stress. (That doesn't include my own stress when I was lit up with 120V while one hand was in the tank and I unknowingly established a ground with my arm. Luckily I have GFCIs, and they work.)

I bought these when they first came out and they quickly began to run backwards. Customer service was not great i ended up giving them away.

I tossed all my "spares" in the garbage. Didn't feel comfortable even giving them away to someone after those two failed in exactly the same way.
