This is expensive stuff. I just wanted to see what you guys thought before I spent the money. Any suggestions on a cheaper comparable product that won't raise PO4? Let me know! :)

I might need to do a new poll. I'm curious to see who here is using it outside of the zeovit system and having results.

if your system has enough nutrition [food] then EXTRA FOOD will not do it any good. just like how extra fries does you no good when you are full.

if how ever your tank is lacking nutritions, then CV will help bring those to your corals, so they can regain their natural growth and tissue color.

hence why ppl using low nutrition systems or Zeovit see better results.

secodly, it takes approximatly 2-3 weeks for the corals to get used to it and use it as their food source ... so must as well be patient.

If you have light pastel starving corals & it's non zeo, I'd try a $6 bottle of Sea Chems Reef Plus , or another companies ammino supplement first.

Coral vitalizer, is NOT amino acids.

KZ`s Amino Acid is Amino Acid, and can be replaced by what u mentioned.

CV is more closer to reef roids. [ artificial/real zooplankton]

Zeo or not, makes no difference, u can dose vodka and get the same results [close to at least, and I mean in terms of nutrition removal ]

I never said Vitalizer was an amino............I just suggested trying an amino supplement first.........that is, if you are one that likes to dose versus other options.

I'm well aware of Zeo & their products. My friend ran full Zeo for 5 years.

I'm dosing a carbon source now & don't spend money on any of those added supplements, regardless of brands.

that is great for you :) not everyone gets great colors so u do as you wish :)

your opinion about "dosing" which I think you mean "feeding" is interesting, if you do not feed your corals and they are alive, then you do not have ULNS system :) which is not bad, it just means there is enough food in your system already :)

I just wanted to share the info so everyone knows what we are talking about, no need to take it personal my friend :)

I do not have an ULNS system. Meaning, I don't run the zeo system. I don't really know how to measure a system to claim it's ultra low on nitrates/phosphates/nutrients etc. I do know that my nitrates are below what can be measured on most testers. My phosphates measure 0.02 on my hanna. I'm not quite sure how to test my nutrient level. I feed my fish 3 x week. I run biopellets, carbon, and GFO in reactors. I have a filter sock on 24/7 changed out every 3 days and run a skimmer. My water seems extremely clear. My sps are growing, but I get no day time PE. Good PE at night time. I would like to get good PE during the day as well. This is the reason for the poll. I would really like to get good PE during the day without increasing my PO4 (it's almost impossible to increase my nitrates without taking my biopellet reactor offline).
It was suggested in another thread to use coral vitalizer to achieve daylight PE without increasing PO4. I have no problem spending the money on this product to achieve daylight PE. I'm just wondering if it's possible to get what I want from this product without running a zeo system. As well as to see if other products exist that will do the same thing for cheaper. Let me know :)

Hypnoj,
I would have to say, with regards to PE ... Amino acids seem to work alot better.

I use the Zeovit Xtra as my main Amino acids ... dosed every other day in morning. improves PE alot.

CV willl also help with PE, but not as much, and will take time till corals get used to it.

but again, its all about filling in the missing part of the equation ... we wont knwo if your corals are lacking particle matter or AAs ... u know what I mean ?

I hear ya Allmost, I know since I'm not using a system that will move toward a certain standard of results, it'll be hard to tell what things I should be adding/taking away. I will look into AA supplements and post results.
If anyone else have any opinions to add, please continue to do so. I'm quite certain I'm not the only one with the problem. I consistently hear of reefers taking their biopellets offline due to "too clean" problems, that they claim.

I guess based on whatever your defination of ULNS is.............I've run the gamut of very low nutrients to higher levels. I stopped chasing numbers years ago & use the coral colors I see with my eyes.

I prefer not to starve them to the edge of life & then add a bunch of unecessary supplements to build them back up.

No offense taken...............I'm just sharing also, like the OP asked, but doing it without lecturing people.:wavehand:

It works well I like the xtra also
Cv, It's not expensive it lasts a long time unless you have a huge tank
That is

I do not run a ULN Zeo System either. I do use CV, AA, LPS, Xtra, Sponge Power, Snow and ZeoBak+Start 3. The tank looks GREAT, growth is CRAZY & the colour is as EXCELLENT. To be honest, I do not know if it is because of the Zeo products or the tank parameters finally hit a sweet spot on their own. At this point, I am not prepared to stop using the Zeo products to see if the tank craps out. In my heart, which is not very scientific, I feel it does make a difference. Then again, I could just be rationalizing the money I spend.

Has anyone tried/documented: adding, with holding and then adding Zeo products in a non-Zeo System????????

Following this thread with great interest!

. . . . It was suggested in another thread to use coral vitalizer to achieve daylight PE . . . .

I have a two question for all you SPS experts.

1. My understanding is that some SPS are nocturnal & others diurnal when it comes to PE. Is this true??? If true would it not be against the genetics of nocturnal species to have day time PE?

2. For those using Zeo products: what species/type of corals that normaly do not have daylight PE, would extended their polyps when Zeo products (which product?) are added?

Thanks

I'm currently using aqua vitro fuel and I've noticed a very vast improvement in PE and coral color. I'm running a mixed reef non zeo system. That's my .02
