Installed my lab grade temperature probe that came with my Apex Controller and Display. Does this probe serve two purposes temperature & Ph? If so my PH reading is very low, I suppose it has to be calibrated, is this correct?

Also set up my PM2 and plugged in the Conductivity probe and it has been nearly 24 hours and the ORB reading is still 0 on the Apex display. What am I doing wrong?

Thanks

Temperature and Ph probes are different probes. You generally do not need to calibrate the temp probe Read the user guide for setting up the conductivity probe you have to do this and you also need calibration fluid.

I have the calibration fluids and have tried to calibrate. This is a lab grade probe so it will only insert into the "Conductivity" port on the PM2. When I try to calibrate it does not seem to be working at all. The it does not seem the lab grade probe will connect with any other ports. Thanks for your help.

ORP and conductivity are separate things. To show Conductivity on the display you will need to configure the display from the web browser. Also what fluid are you using to calibrate the conductivity probe?

Like I said, I bought the lab grade ph probe and there does not seem to be a port on the apex controller that will accept the connection. The only connection I can make is in the "Conductivity" probe on the PM2. I ordered the ph probe and received the "Procond Lab Grade Conductivity Probe." Maybe they sent me the wrong probe from the description on the box it does not read to be a ph probe. What do you think?

There is a place on the base apex controller for the ph and orp probe, and the conductivity probe if new came calibrated which its plug is a din 8 connector and can only plug into the pm2 module. The ph and orp have the same connector which slips onto the connection and you turn it to lock it in to the controller also see the reference manual you can download from neptune website.

Yup sounds like you got the wrong probe. A ph probe has a BNC connector and can only connect to the Apex base or a PM1. If the connector is fitting to the PM2 then it definitely is a Conductivity probe.

Well I did it. I updated the firmware and I am now getting "Conductivity" readings on the disply. Yaaaa! Any idea what the reading should be for my reef tank with all types of corals, sps, lps, softcoral and fish. I now use a Pinpoint Salinity Meter and keep it at 53.0mkS. Any idea about the conversion is?

Hold on a second. If you bought the PM2 then it's a conductivity module. That's why you got that probe. You need a PM1 or the full Apex for pH.

I'm also having trouble programing a doser, it will only run 6 minutes per day to dose NOpOX. Can someone point me in the right direction? I have tried all different outlet configurations and none seem to be working.

Conductivity is a measurement that will let you know what your Salinity is. ORP is about Oxidization/Redox potential which is related to oxygen content in your water. ORP is typically measured if you are using Ozone on your aquarium. They are completely different things.

Conductivity should be around 35ppm for a reef. You need to calibrate the probe with some 53ms solution. Also you should have a temp probe attached to the pm2 for temperature compensation.

Thank you for the information. Any idea what my conductivity reading should be. It currently reads 41.7

See the attachment. Also remember to calibrate your conductivity meter before trusting it. You can get calibration fluid from a variety of places or you can calibrate it to your refractometer if you trust it.

I just moved the temperature probe from the Aqua Controller to the PM2 so that should take care of the temperature compensation issue, right? I assume the reading on the Apex Display is in ppm, it does not show units? The instructions stated that it might take up to one week for the probe to acclimate, is this correct? I will calibrate the probe as I wait for your reply. Thank you so much for the help, very grateful!

Yes putting the temp probe on the PM2 will solve it. Just remember to set the Conductivity Compensation. I use 2.2. Also yes the probe does take a little while to break in and settle. But you can go ahead and calibrate now and if in a week you find that it has strayed, you can re-calibrate again at that point.
