LA Gig 2nd try

I received the wrong anemone from LA last week. After sending them pics to confirm what they sent was NOT a Gig...I received my replacement today.

Oh HAPPY DAY! It was listed as a small tan...it does not look tan at all...more of yellow / green. It is small....but WOW very very sticky. It was a challenge to get it out of the bag and then off of my finger lol. Finally I just cut the plastic bag apart and wedged the plastic between some rocks and it moved to it's current location on it's own. I hope it stays there since that was where I wanted it!

It took my female clown about 8 hours to find it since they never leave their "Host powerhead". She has been sweeping against it on and off for a few hours. That was FAST :)

Sorry about the pics....actinics were about to go out for the night and everything was moving in the tank. I have quite a bit of current in the tank for a softie and LPS tank. I will try to get better pics after work tomorrow. At least I KNOW this is Gig....Yeah.

Be careful with such a small nem and the clown -- it could "love" the nem to death. If you see the clown ramming its head into the nem's mouth, remove the nem and begin QT. I've found this happening to me a few times now -- IME clowns only ram their heads into the gig's mouth when the gig is sick. If others can confirm this, that would be appreciated.

I'm glad to hear that LA made things right.

I have lost several gigs to this also. But, this was before cipro was discovered, and only with new arrivals. I have not had this happen once a nem is healthy and acclimated.

I would not keep those two together... Too much size difference. Just what I wouldn't do...

My pink skunks would routinely grab things from the mouth of my healthy gigantea and burrow in slightly. Don't know about sick ones because I haven't had one until now, which isn't hosted of course.

PS Thanks again for the meds.:D The anemone stopped deflating fully on the second day of cipro, but is far from healed due to all of the bleaching and balding. I got shipments of cipro and septra DS in so I can replenish your supply anytime.

Congrats I love my so called "tan" gig I got from LA. It is a tri-color with a bluish purple on the edge to green to yellow closer to the mouth.

Just and update....the anemone is doing very well and is in the DT....now if my anemone challenged clowns would choose to host it instead of a powerhead I would be happy :)

Update :)

Update :)

The Gig is doing well. Today my female Clown decided she was moving in. They have been sweeping against it one day then totally ignoring it for a week. Then they showed interest...then didn't lol. It only took about 2 months for one of them to move in for good. Geesh...talk about a slow move!

The male wants to join her but she is beeing greedy lol. My "Tan" Gig from Live Aquaria is actually a pretty green. It is getting more and more green as time goes by. This is the stickiest I have ever had...when I accidently touch it....it holds on hard!! I have to just wait for it to let go lol.

I just wanted to update the thread and let everyone know it was still alive and doing well.

Just a full tank shot. The anemone is in the bottom left. There is a 48" 8 lamp T5 light fixture on the tank. I think it may be too bright...it bleached 3 of my Acans and they are at the bottom of the tank :( They are now shaded under some rock work..hope they recover quick.

Thank you. I am worried that if they both try to move in the poor anemone will get "loved to death".....It is attached to a rock that can be moved, however I think I would remove the clowns before I moved the anemone. They can go in the 37g that I have for future seahorses if needed.

Both clowns are now in the Gig Full time. I had to move them and the gig to another tank for now...the clowns were going after anything that got near their anemone...including the yellow tang and the flame angel. Neither of those are small fish! lol. The anemone is small yet....about the size of the palm of my hand so it should be fine in the 37g nano for awhile. The only thing in the tank is the amenone, Percs,2 frogspawn corals, live rock and sand.

Both the clowns and anemone seem happier in the new tank...I could get better flow for the anemone and the clowns can relax :)

I've been looking at those anenomies and was always sketchy on ordering things like that. Can I ask how much you spent on the gig?
