Lab Grade Temp Probe

Quick question--just purchased a lab grade temp probe. I already have the "normal" temp probe, which terminates in a "bulb". The bulb on the lab grade probe has a metal piece sticking through it. I'm wondering if this is normal or a defect? See picture. Thanks!

Looks damaged. Also if you purchased a "lab grade" probe from someone besides Neptune, they probably sent you a temp probe and just charged you more for it. Not sure they make lab grade temp probes. Where did you get it?

Aquarium Speciality, but it shipped straight from Neptune. In any event I will write AS. Thanks all.

Just to avoid any confusion here, it appears that I clicked on the wrong probe when I ordered from AS, so it is a probe for the AC3/ACPro. Oops. In any event the probe is defective but it'll all be cleared up.
