Guys, I am getting a pair of lanceolatus wrasse....please kindly share your knowledge and experience on this wrasse.

Yes, very rare. Most of the time it is actually C.rosefacia mislabeled as lanceolatus. Even a major wholesaler made that mistake years back.

Very interested in who is selling them.

If you're certain they are from Japan, then there's a good chance they are actually lanceolatus. I'm guessing you've been in touch with Mr. Wada.

Anyways, there's limited knowledge on the particulars of this species, as they've only been kept by a handful. That said, they have been reported to be rather aggressive for a fairy wrasse. I would not keep them amongst other fairys.

As they're Japanese, they are sub-tropical. Keeping your tank around 75-76 might be advisable. You may well be able to adapt them to warmer temps, but do such with care and observation.

Yes, that mistake is made very, very frequently. C. rosefacia is easy although on the aggressive side.

Just look to see where the blue dot on the pelvic fins are. Rosefacia is towards the back, lanceolatus towards the front.

Lancelolatus has very different colors. Blue spot on the pelvic fins are different and pay attention to the facial markings. YOu are one lucky person! Please post pictures when you get them!!!!

I have a pair of rose band wrasse in my tank, I should be able to tell the difference between the 2. Let's hope for the best!!!
