Large angels in a reef

Well i just put a queen angel in my 90 gal i pretty much only have zoas and so far she hasnt touched anything. Eating Coraline aglea around the zoas but for the most part not touching ne thing. I will try and get a picture of her up tonight

I've had a queen for 3 years, bought at about 3 inches. I have had leathers, sps , lps, misc. The only thing he ever touched was Xenia,(destroyed a frag in about 10 minutes), Star polyps, and some bright orange zoos, leaves the dull ones alone although I never actually saw him nip the zoos but about 30 of them were gone in a few weeks. I feed 2xs a day plus nori every week or so. Get him young and keep him fed. I just try with a small frag when I get something new so I won't loose $. Good luck, they are great fish and will last long if you have a healthy one

great fish, I just saw a site in england where a guy had a queen angel, an emperor, a blue face, conspiculatus, blue line and regals in his large reef tank, oh yeah and he had a few genicanthus as well.

Can you post a link to that site? I'd love to see his tank.

yeah that would be nice to see.

Ableson13 < thats a nice fish and keep me posted with how it does in the tank. if it does go after anything let me know what it likes more than what ever else. The one I hope to get is going to be a samll adult I'm to impatient to wait for it to change lol

Maldives, He is a BIG eater. He sometimes trys to intimidate me.
I put my head up to the tank and he rams it and you hear that thumping sound. LOL! Sooner or later he'll learn that i am the one that keeps his food. LOL!
He doesent do that with my hand when my arms in the tank he just hides. His bark is worse than his bite.

funny,
I have a clown that attacks my hand, yesterday he held on and actually drew blood!!!

I just ripped down my tank a few weeks ago to remove a 4 inch domino damsel that would bite the crap out of my arm when i was cleanig the tank or adjusting a coral.
It hurt more than i thought it would. He would break skin.

dwarf angels gone

dwarf angels gone

Hi all,

I apologize for hijacking the thread; I am at a loss with this event.

Last friday, I bought a new pacific blue tang, a 3"+ Annularis Angel, and a 2 day old banded cat shark (6"). I had a lively group of dwarf angels...1 flame and 2 coral beauties...for a couple of months in my 300g tank. On saturday, I cleaned the tank and the filters completely; I also toppled over some live rock accidentally where the dwarf angels and flame hanged out.

the other day, I noticed that the dwarf angels are missing, and today, I saw the partially eaten corpse of what I believe was the flame under the collapse area of liverock. The two coral beauties are missing.

I think the Annularis must have killed all three, but he (in the relatively short period of time I've observed him) shows no aggression towards any of the tangs or even the small pseudochromies, cardinals, or firefish.

Might I have killed them in the (relatively)minor LR collapse??

Does the cat shark have a hand in this? I dont think so because there are slower, smaller fish in the tank plus shrimp and snails still alive.

I heard that there is usually no problems keeping a large angel with small angels (www.wetwebmedia.com) and this Annularis has been a model resident, as far as I know. I cant believe that he would or could so swiftly knock off 3 dwarf angels without some history of chasing them around.

does anyone have some experiences they could share that would help me out understanding this?

Thanks,

Paul

ps: the coral beauties are unaccounted for; perhaps I could save them by taking out the annularis?

sorry to hear, you may have crushed them all if they were hanging out under the rocks. I don't think a 3" angel could kill three others in a matter or a few days especially since it's a 300 gallon and he's new to the tank. Could be the shark? What is the shark eating?
