Large Maroon

I have a 270 with a harlequin tusk which unfortunately kills clownfish. I want to try a larger P. biaculeatus, which will have a huge H. magnifica for shelter. Unfortunately, since these have been captive bred, I only see tiny ones for sale. Anyone know where to get a big one? How fast do they grow?

Ha! I wish you were closer because I have a full grown maroon who has massacred nearly every fish it has ever seen. I would post in your local club, there always seems to be someone looking to get rid of their maroon after it gets too big and territorial for their tanks.

I just placed a bonded pair in my sump. I did not want any issues adding some new items to the tank.

I already posted on the northeast ohio board.

Worm - I asked how fast these grow because I had the same idea to grow them bigger. My Yellow Tangs have been growing about 1/2 inch pwr year, at that rate, this wouldn't make sense.

When I set up my daughters tank approx 7 months ago I added one that was about 1.5 inch it is now a solid 3+ however most would say I overfeed. She gets 3 meals a day typically. I added her mate about 2 months ago and they are already spawning. I have read that higher temps 80-82 encourage growth, but have never actually measured growth rates of any of my maroons. I had a ~6 inch female for years in a 180 and she seemed to grow much faster when she was young once she hit about 4 inches she seemed to stop growing and took maybe another 5 years for those extra 2 inches
