lastlight's 225 reef build

Lol. Not that I'm trying to win that title but I began this build 4-28-2008 so I do in fact have you beat! I didn't post a thread here until I had a little bit to show =) Also, this build piggybacks off a 400 gallon I began building in my last house. I had it built in a marble-tiled wall and then my wife wanted to move. It was built on-site and demolished on-site! That build began 11-20-2006.

Been without a tank for some time but not for lack of trying.

And thanks for the compliments =)

No problem. :)

I've had tanks intended for a reef since 11/06, IIRC. I had an acrylic 29 (used for African cichlids), a brand new acrylic 135 (gave it to my FIL for his practice), a used Oceanic 58 (complete system), a brand new Tech 120 and finally my 240+ Miracles tank. Not one has had a drop of saltwater in it. :o

All this sloooooooowest build thread, mumbo jumbo has angered me. I have the most pathetic (time-wise) build going. Check the dates in my homepage. My record speaks for itself. The title is MINNNNNE!

I only poke fun because I'm in the same position he is, a slow build. That and I know LastLight from a local forum. It's all meant in good fun, we aren't actually in a race... :bounce3::bounce2::bounce1:

I knows this. My silly little post was in good fun, too. :lol2:

You go and say something like that HERE? I'm not like that here use some discretion! Blowin me right out of the water here michika ;)

Dude love your layout man! Totally European looking. I'm tagging along for this one. Gave me some great ideas for my next setup.

Hey get in touch with me about an RO/DI unit. My previous one needs a little tweak but I'm sure you can sort it out and it's yours if you want it, free. You would have to come but & get it though.:fun4:

Here's a couple pics of what I've been breaking my back on...literally. I have bad knees as well. You guys with fishrooms are onto something!

The pics show the two American DJ power centers I installed and all the gear in place. Ranco, Osmolator, Tunze powerheads and my light timers. The little shelf up top holds the transformers for the powerheads. The white bundled extension cord next to the Ranco is for a chiller if I ever need one (fingers crossed).

The return pump and skimmer pump are not tie-wrapped like everything else so I can remove them easily. Hypothetically though, if anything Tunze ever dies on me I'm in for a nightmare of a time removing it lol. All the slack for the powerheads currently hangs behind the tank. I have more than enough length to move them and place them in a bucket of vinegar on the floor without disconnection.

Next up is aquascaping and getting my ro/di (courtesy of the legendary Snappy) up and going once my BRS dry rock/odds and ends order arrives in a couple weeks!

Brett everything is so neat, clean & organized......love it!

Hey Greg, if you don't mind, how much did you pay for the American DJ power centers? And where did you get them?
This needs to be directed at Brett as this is his awesome build.
I wish I had some of those, they look pretty nice.

I bought them used from local dj rental company for $45 each. New here in Calgary they go for around $55. The only place I found here that carried them new was a music store that sells guitars, amps etc. Should be much easier to find these in the US.

Amazon.com even sells them.
