Latest & Greatest Apex software?

JeF4y

El Conquistidor
Can someone let me know what the current beta is? I haven't upgraded in several months so I'm not sure if anything new is out there.

Hoping that Curt will write in code for the Vortech to go into a "true" feed mode...

Thanks in advance!

The latest release is 4.04_BC10, available on the Neptune web site. There are no betas more recent AFAIK.

What are you looking for in a "true" feed mode?

Getting the VorTech pumps to throttle down to 50% of their lowest speed. Something that the VorTech feed mode does.

That can be done using profiles; configure a profile to what you want the pumps to do and use something like this:

If FeedA 000/000 Then PF5

The Apex will not throttle a Vortech down below I believe 30% or 35% (It's been a few months since I talked to them). I verified this with Curt.

However, the Vortech feed mode (push the button for 3 seconds) cuts it back to like 15%. It's a HUGE difference in my tank.

Got it... Talked to Curt and it's available in 4.04 BC10 if you set a profile to less than 15%.

I'll have to upgrade. I'm still on 4.03_5B10

30% min is hold over from Tunze Streams that go to 0% and 30-100% output.

What website can update feeds from the Apex? Someone told be it is something like aquanetic.net?

I'm sorry but I don't understand the question; what are you wanting to do?

I'm really glad to hear this. I actually want the lower speed modes for reverseable gyre rotation and not for feeding. I don't want the pump on the opposite side to completely stop, since critters will take that opportunity to take up residence. On the other hand I don't want the off side pump to be fighting the current water flow direction any more than absolutely necessary.

Does the "profile to less than 15%" mean that we can go even slower still?

Thanks

I'm interested in this too - for the same reasons as rivoth. I thought we were still limited to 30% in 4.04 BC10.

I don't think changing the percentage below 20% (I think its 20%) matters much - it's more of a toggle to the feed mode than recognizing a discrete intensity percentage. Below that percentage it enters feed mode which is 50% of your pumps lowest normal speed. Doesn't matter if you pick 5% or 19% - you still just get feed mode.

Alan, are you saying that when not connected to the Apex that if you turn the intensity knob all the way down on the Vortec controller that it will default to 50% of whatever mode it was in before you made the adjustment? I can't confirm but I recall being able to turn the pumps down to a fairly low level pre-Apex. Of course, that might have been 20-30% of max - there was no way to tell.

Hawkdl2,

I think it depends on the pump. From the Vortech homepage:

MP10 200 to 1,575 gph
MP40 1,000 to 3,200 gph
MP60 3,500 "“ 7,500 gph

I interpret the feed mode as 50% of the lowest speed so:

MP10 100 gph
MP40 500 gph
MP60 1750 gph

These numbers give a different % of the max for each pump.

It still leaves some unanswered questions though. For instance on an MP10, 200 gph is only 12.7% of the 1575 ghp maximum. So going under 20% shouldn't be putting you into feed mode for this pump.
