Latezonatus Clowns on DD a few days ago

So sorry about the little guy. Now is the time to make sure you get a smaller juvi or male since the bigger one will most likely turn female.

Well it ended as I thought. Not a great fish day for me. I also had a choat's wrasse come in alive but barely. Was dead within 2 hours but was only live arrival guarantee. So far the seller has not responded to emails so I think I'm out of luck there.

Really hoping Divers den has another in Qt because I have no interest in having a single latz....

Sorry to hear about your loss. It's always a pain when you get a pair of a hard to find species and one dies. The only upside about this with anemonefish is that sexing isn't really an issue. Pipefish and jawfish are so much more hassle...

At this size they are for sure not females. It's actually even doubtful if they are already functioning males.

Looks like it will turn out ok. Among the Reef is bringing in an order of latz produced by Karen next week so I'm going to grab one of those.

How much does he ask for them?

Are the ones DD sold also from Karen? The ones they sold before were from Australia, but this time they say they are USA captive bred and from the quality they could be Karen's.

Not sure on the exact price yet. Also not sure if the ones from DD were from Karen.

Any update of these clowns and comment on the fish over all?

Mine is doing great. Loves the gigs but seems to sleep in the mag. I also have a misbar that I found locally in an old seahorse tank both seem to be easy to keep. Planning to grab one from Among the Reef to go with my remaining one from live aquaria when I get back from vacation.

They are doing good, but they do not look like wild caught latz. This is a picture of the wc Juvis I got from dd in 2010 and the cb ones this year

What do you mean with that they don't look like wild?
I had wild adults and juveniles before and these look pretty much the same as wild juveniles.
The widening of the bars and the blue lips develop as they grow up.

Curious what you mean as well. They look pretty identical in the pics you posted to me. What am I missing in the pics? I see that the color is a bit lighter but I'm assuming these cb ones are just younger.

Something about the shape of the face just seems off to me, that and the color, but that could be because they are younger. I'll keep this post updated with how they develop.

The yellow color on pectoral fins is much more pronounced on wild caught juvi Latz. Their heads and gills are more proportional, etc etc. I know what knot-hard means.
I think Ocellaris clowns are a good example of how tank raised ones differ from wild caught ones. It's obvious in their shape and color. Same species that look different.
