Ive had a LB in qt now for exactly four weeks. I got him from my LFS (which is not a chain like Petco, Petsmart) He's eating the nori I give him, looks healthy - should I still wait two more weeks or would I be ok to put him in now? I don't treat my qt with any meds at all.

interesting - 58 views but no responses. I'm going to keep in qt one more week then move him over,

if he has been in there for 4 weeks without any signs of having any problems i would say your safe and go ahead.

How long should I wait till get one in my new tank

Well, how old is your new tank?I waited 2 years to add one to my system. It was fat and happy for 6 months, not so much anymore, the tank is just too clean for him now, I will be giving him to a friend.

I added one 4mts after my tank was set up. Which is 15mths its running. Even though he has to compete with 4 tanks for algae, he is always eating all sorts of stuff on the rocks, glass and especially the sand. He stirs up the sand bed and tries to eat the floating detrius and whatever else he sees floating around. He also eats mysis and pellets.

DO NOT get this fish if you have SPS!!! There is a ton of algae in my tank for him to eat since I only clean the front glass and leave the other 3 for my snails. I added him 2 days ago and I lost 2 sps, one each day. These corals were well established and very healthy, day one a piece of flesh was hanging from my bright yellow, couldn't honestly say the fish did it since I didn't catch him doing it. Next morning coral was decimated, thought something was going on with my tank. Nope perfect, water all other sps look beautiful. Day two I watched him tear into my fuzzy pink watermelon frag, it died with in 3 hours. Had that coral frag encrusted and growing well for 3 months, removed it flesh-less skeleton today. Needless to say he's back at the fish store after having to tear down most of my rock work, he almost got flushed.

Beware of these fish they ARE NOT as reef safe as people say.

I think a minimum of six weeks is appropriate for quarantine, and no less. If this were my fish I'd wait another two weeks. You're lucky that he's eating Nori. If he didn't, keeping him healthy long term would be tough. You can also try some "people" veggies like broccoli and spinach, plus spirulina tabs. I have a friend with a big, very successful reef who feeds broccoli everyday.
