Oh man... I wish hadn't piddled away my day.... then I could come watch instead of getting some much needed work done.
What time are you planning on doing this?

Soon as the fishing line arrives... of course that was supposed to be a couple of hours ago. Grr. Already have a bag all prepped so just waiting on that at this point.

Not sure why my post disappeared but... I put a bag in place around 9 but am thinking it was too long as none of the fish seemed brave enough to go in and get the food. Switching out to a large Ziplock freezer bag now. Also have camera on hand to attempt getting video of this if possible. lol

if no interest tonight, leave it in place overnight so they get used to it. It might help to starve the tank for a day or two if it takes longer than an hour.

interesting...i kinda of want to see how this is done, after fishing with my net for 2 bala's, 3 angels, and a rainbow today (i am taking down the FW and preping for a move and then it will become SW!!!!)

At the very least it's funny to watch. The Tang keeps swimming around the large ziplock and sees two yummy cubes of mysis in there but still hasn't gotten brave enough to go in yet. He's getting so frustrated he's starting to nail rocks as he's swimming by them. Such a tool...

I'm telling ya... this Tang is not a stupid fish. He did pick at the plastic at the opening a couple of times in the past 5 minutes. As suggested, I'm going to probably leave it in overnight and see if he's more comfy with it tomorrow. :)

I did this with a snowflake eel. he would go in just far enough to get the food when i tried to pull up the bag he would back right out.. had to resort to restack after spending 8 hrs sitting infront of a tank.

Well for starters I've caught my tang no less than five times over the past three years using a net. He is on to my game and it no longer works. Tried for hours last night with the lights off.

So then... two and a half hours later, help from blockhead, Cully & Henry and the patience my father taught me when fishing for hours at the ponds and creeks...

I GOT HIM!!! VICTORY IS MINE!!! lmao

The evil laugh that escaped me as I yanked on that fishing line actually surprised me... :eek2:

It took forever for sure. First the shrimp started going in. Then an hour and a half later the little purple pseudochromis started going in. THIS drove the tang and the yellow coris wrasse nuts. Blue started poking his head in around the same time but it took him until 11:30 to get far enough into the bag where I had a guaranteed catch. Didn't want too get trigger happy, yank too early, miss and have to wait until tomorrow to start over again.

So, here's the little turd in the refugium. He goes to live with Henry soon. :D
