Leak in RO system

Hi guys,

In my RO system water has started to pass through even when it doesn't turn on. Originally, I thought the RO filter is broken. But it leaks even with the new filter.

Even when all outgoing valves are locked, water goes from the blue pipe left from Drain. Any ideas? Thanks

Water will always flow down the drain line if the unit is receiving pressure. I see the pressure switch for booster pump but there must also be a shutoff diaphragm (maybe like this picture) that is leaking. At some point the pressure switch should make the booster pump kick on - does that happen?

Oh, they include microprocessors now? I’ve got a system I pieced together over time since 1990.

That said, it does say every 2 hours it flushes the members so, that could be what you’re seeing.

Also, even though it says it shuts off the system when needed, if it doesn’t have some type of valve to shut it off, it will continue to run.

The description says it has a "High-pressure electronic shut-off for reservoir use". It's just figuring out what gizmo it is. If my guess is correct in this image, the blue solenoid on the left is leaking (bypassing).

The black piece right behind your pressure pump is a high pressure switch, which is normally used to turn off the pressure pump but it might be tied into the other things I mentioned as part of the solenoid's function.

I jumped on here after a search for exactly this. My RO continues to pass water out the waste line after my reservoir is full. I thought that 4 hub device would shut that down. Also the only way water should be able to do that is through the membrane flush valve in which mine is electric and I assumed is closed unless energized. Is that not correct?

No, the flush valve simply bypasses the flow restrictor. It doesnt close the line.
My ASOV failed and I had to get a new one.
The ASOV is suposed to close the feed line if the Clean water flow is stopped.

If you have had it out you could have connected it wrong. It only attaches one way.

This is how I’m connected, but has continued to leak through since I installed it. Which you’re saying it shouldn’t do?
correct
If pressure builds on the output line, port labeled 6 above it shuts off the incoming water at port 1 entering the membrane at port 2.
So no water should exit the black tube that is the waste line.

That is how it is supposed to work. I have a Hydros solenoid valve that shuts off mine and all flow stops and nothing comes out the waste line.
Make sure you have the in and out correct. Has it ever worked? As I said, it only works connected one way. Other than that you have to replace it.
