LEAR Frag Swap Pickups

Lake Erie Advanced Reefers had a frag swap today, pretty happy with my pickups as I really mostly have basic no name pieces in the tank now. I'm too cheap to buy the expensive and high end coral, I like to wait until they are more common :)

Im going to attempt to keep this post as a growth log once I get things in their spots, but with my growth rates that may be years lol.

One day I will get a real camera and not my wife's s5 camera phone...

Red Planet

Red Dragon

Hawkins Echinata

Idaho Grape Monti

Some sort of blue stag

Not sure on these two but they looked good to me and was on a fire sale towards the end of the swap

The right side of the tank in attempts to get an accurate color of the frags in one shot...not quite

Did you dip them? Why didn't you take the last two off the bases? You are inviting pests into your tank.

I use coral rx as a dip, did half the time on the red dragon because the last one i tried a year ago stn'd shortly after introducing it to the tank.

Is there a difference between the last two bases compared to the others? I have always dipped, left the frags on the plugs (if on one of course) then left them on the sand bed until i was ready to move them up in the tank, at which point i would take them off of the plug if it wasn't encrusted or not. I just always assumed that the dip would take care of everything on the coral and plug/rubble. I'll definitely start taking them off if that is not the case!

It was sold to me as a red planet so it better be!

the last two are mari-culture pieces that come from the ocean. they always come with the nasty pests. always chop them off the bases and then dip the colony.
