Learning/rebuilding from my epic fail

So sorry about your dad Matt, I lost mine earlier this year. It's tough, and your dad sounded like a great father.

The corals look terrific, great color. I've added a second 500ml of AIO bp so now I'm up to a liter for my 150 and still at 100% flow through my recirc reactor. Nitrate hasn't dropped below 2 yet, PO4 hanging around .08. With this addition I took my GFO offline. Can you remind me how much AIO you're using?

Thanks!

The acros are looking awesome Matt :)

Very sorry you lost your dad mate, i still catch myself thinking ' must tell dad about that ' and then i remember he's gone :( Thinking of you buddy :)

Sorry to hear about your dad my friend prayers to you and your family. Glad things are looking better for your tank pics looks awsome.

Matt, very sorry about the loss of your father. :sad2: Your story reminded me of my own father; and its sort of similar; it was my father who got me into keeping fish. My first fish was a small goldfish that I kept in a shallow tray... I lost my father some 10 years back. If it werent for my father, I would have never got into this hobby. I get much enjoyment from the hobby and when times were tough, I could just forget things and immerse myself in the hobby.

The acros are looking absolutely stunning. Now you just need to keep up the aweme work and let the corals grow. We have a future TOTM here.

Sahin, cugley, Andrew, Mark, Nathan. Thank you for your kind words. I'll miss him.

Mark, I have somewhere between 750 ml and a liter of pellets and quite a high flow rate, now going through the pellets. I would guess I have about 300 gob going through the pellets.. Clearly, I have a LOT of bound po4 in my old rock because I am running the pellets very hard and adding significant amounts of cano3 and kno3 to keep n at around 1ppm.. I also have a very large ball of cheato about the size of a basketball.
Even with magnesium at 1700 and dropping now, I'm not seeing a total shutdown of growth.

Interesting black polyps on this one:

Can't wait for this guy to start growing out instead of just encrusting..

Some really nice colour going on there  Sorry to read about your dad, I have a similar relationship with mine and it will be tough when the time comes.

I thought Elton is the one get many rare SPS, but... Where you got so many blue and pink color coral!!!!

Very nice. Forget those US$40 wild caught I got. I am willing to pay one zero behind with your blue and pink coral

Just make sure you say everything you want to say. I did and I'm deeply comforted by it. It's a completely surreal experience which becomes an ever so smaller and smaller shock with each passing day..

Thanks, Shih! That pink rimmed blue piece is apparently A. Tenuis. Similar to the RR pink or blue matrix. It was a frag from a cultured piece. I have a frag from a similar coral that I haven't photographed yet... Soon :)

The contrast between the polyps and tissue is insane Matt, throw in the fluoro ringed axial tips and i'm very jealous

I agree with Andrew, that one looks stunning. :)

Keep awesome acro photography coming. :D

Thanks guys! That piece came from the same shop as the one Shih likes. Place called Raging Reef in Montreal. He is by far the best supplier and procurer of crazy nice sps.
Many of my pieces have come from a Toronto based on line shop called Fragbox. He got me that Oregon tort which he got from the U.S. A few years ago. He also got me the orange passion amongst others. I'm due to recieve a Hawkins echinata from him next week. Can't wait! These two guys are both sort of nutty hobbyist/retailers. The best kind of retailer..
That black polyped green acro was put in my tank many months ago. It just sat there and held out through all the instability mayhem and has recently decided to come out to play! I can't wait for it to start growing. It's right in the verge.

Ok Dr biggles..
12 blue streak cardinals (glass cardinal)
Purple tang
Stupid a** hole coral eating rabbitfish
2 filament wrasses
2purple filefish
1 non aptasia eating filefish
3 leopard wrasses
3 tough Evansi Anthias
Now, I guess the 40 peppermint shrimp, two sand stars and the bristle don't count.
So that's 24 fish in 190 gallon display.
1.26... Hey isn't that what Matt has as well?

Progression shots of my best grower so far.. One of only a few frags that are actually growing out and not encrusting:

The 12 blue streak cardinals are a joke but anyway we have to count them. Matt's number constantly changes as he remembers more and more fish apparently forgotten first count so who knows what it will be this time tomorrow.......

Do you want to include your pods as well while you're at it Matt..... it's not the bloody biggleshrimp coefficient or the bigglestar or bigglebristle - it's the biggleFISH coefficient. :mad2:
