Learning/rebuilding from my epic fail

Great pics and good work catching the valve fail! A couple of weeks ago seconds before leaving the house for the weekend my Apex Lite shorted and shut everything off. The luck of being home at the right time lol.
Thanks, Tim. What a disaster that would have been to come to... I don't even want to think about it!!!
corals are looking fantastic! what lense are you shooting with?
is that tort the oregon?

Thanks, March. Mostly I use a canon 100mm f2.8 L macro. With that lens I get by far the sharpest images. I also use 24-105 f4 L zoom or EF-S 15-85 f3.6-5.6 zoom for wider shots..
I'm thinking about getting the EF-S 60mm 2.8 macro so I can get the extreme sharpness and more coral in the image...
No, that blue coral on the right was an unknown blue tort... I suspect, by the beginnings of the green lower in the body, that it is a Cali..
I haven't shot your little Oregon in a while..
Here's a top down from about 6 weeks ago.. It's on the left..

Hi Matt,

I love the purple/pink staghorn in the last picture. Having said that all the frags are stunning without exception.

I am trying too picture in my head how your tank would look when all the frags reach maturity. I suspect that they will struggle for space on live rock.

Thanks Bulent. I suspect you are 100% correct. There will be struggle. And I will probably have to remove/relocate things.. It's a work in progress. :)
Wow, dodged a bullet with that plug. Latest pictures look fantastic, certainly what we all strive for!
Thanks, Mark! Things have been very stable, lately and the corals are definitely coloring up and beginning to grow faster.
You say struggle, i would say snuggle:)
:) it is a cozy reef.. No question.
Lucky lucky Matt!! Acro's are looking pretty schweet at the moment :inlove:
Thanks, Dom! I'm liking your recent redo..
I blame the auto-correction on my iMac.
:)
Awesome Matt, your colors remain outstanding :)
Perry, thanks. I am happy with most of my corals.. But as you know, we never stop trying to tweak things..

March, as I told you, there is absolutely a piece of that OT with your name on it!
Tank looks amazing buddy!
Kevin!! Where have you been??? Good to hear from you after easily a year.. I have no doubt that you are very close to an outrageous photobomb... Come on.. Give it up!!
Speaking of photo bomd.. It's been what? A week?? Well I got a photobomb myself..
I'm leaving for Cuba on Monday, so the tank will be in the hands of my 80 year old mother. Not the first time.. I have done all that I can do.. She will feed the fish twice in a half hour period and continue to add my magic mixed potion of Reef roids, reef pearls, reef vitality and Aquaforest sps food (this last one is new to the mix).

March, here a few shots of my OT..

Here's are a bunch of random shots..

Ok. Some more..
Matt, I have An Awesome Wave playing on my surround sound as I post. Lovin' it. :)

I know I posted this recently. This is another shot. Just love the colour contrast in this Fiji.

Pink matrix is growing out like crazy at its base.

I almost got rid of this but it's getting some interesting shades in the body..

Baby Furiosa.

My tiny ice fire.

Last few..

I haven't changed a thing in a couple months in anticipation of being away..
My nitrates have been under 1ppm for about two months. Po4 at .07. Alk between 5.5 and 7.5 but mostly right at 6.5. My alk dropped when I didn't look for a week, the corals really jumped in growth. I have since adjusted co2 and have been stable at 6.5. I increased co2 ever so (ever so) slightly for when I'm gone.
I had been adding lugols for about 2 months 3 drops per day and some potassium but stopped this two weeks ago.. I may continue with lugols when I get back but I wanted to see if anything would look different after not seeing the tank for a week.. Not sure I need to add lugols.
Potassium I've added a larger amount and will test when I get back. I'm not concerned about it very much.. It should stay stable- or at least high enough for a week..
I want to do something about my n.. I'd like to get it up to around 2ppm. Not sure how I will do this with my po4 is. I have added so many fish to the tank, I don't want to add more..... Well... Maybe a couple wrasses... Few more Evansi anthias.. Maybe another bellus.. Anyways, even with the Phosbond in there my po4 is about as high as I would like it..
Maybe back to n dosing..
I may give Koralcolor a go when I'm back and maybe Aquaforest micro e... And maybe coral e as well... That will be a loooong experiment...
Ok! :) I think I've just about finished his little catharsis.

You have such a great collection of beautiful corals. I've said it in here before, but as soon as this tank fills out a little, it's going to be really really special. The aquascape, the corals and colors you are getting with all those beautiful fish... oh man! Love your tank!

I'm with Conor on this one Matt. I think your colors are wicked and the growth in those pics puts mine to shame.
What is it exactly that makes you want to experiment with your water, i think you're one of the best acro keepers on RC Matt so i'm puzzled tbh - doesn't take much to puzzle me as you know........:p
