I have been out of the hobby for a few years and am thinking about getting back in it. Is LED lighting sufficient by itself for a 20-40 gal tank with BTA or Haddoni? I was not planning on keeping corals. Scott
I'll be interested in how people respond. You might want to post this in the equipment forum.
If you have been away from the hobby for a while, you might not be aware of the drama involving LED lighting, patents and how a small company is apparently intent on preventing anyone from using LED's to light their aquariums. It is a long story that you will want to check out.
I had BTA's under the ecoxotic panorama and they were just fine.
BTA's are typically not as light needy, and they seem to prefer rock work so they can sit higher up for better light.
I would not try a hadonni under them.
I also would not worry about patent issues.
I've got an LTA and three BTAs in two different tanks with DIY LED lighting. The LTA is in a 40 gallon, and the BTAs are in a 90 gallon. All seem to be doing fine, and none have moved since I transitioned their tanks from MH to LED.
